regerme Posted 19 February 2012 Posted 19 February 2012 If you could tell a driver the consequence of their actions could prove catastrophic and as a result make our roads safer would you??? Regerme have provided a FREE to use platform to communicate through the medium of vehicle registration numbers. This innovative altiuristic website has road safety for schools and how's my driving components as well as general road rage reporting. Launched last week and already supported by a number of MPs and approved by senior police officers around the country the scheme needs the public as well as media on board to gain further traction. It's FREE, it works and could save lives. What other reason do you need? If you drive the scheme is not something you can opt out of. Search regerme, log on and check your registration, you may have a comment.
dave the caveman Posted 19 February 2012 Posted 19 February 2012 surely there must be some privacy issues to consider there
Saxondale Posted 19 February 2012 Posted 19 February 2012 Surely this cannot be right. I could post up some very negative, hate-inspiring but untrue comments about my next-door neighbour, for instance, who's a ****. Also, if there's a road-rage incident that is 50/50, well, you get the picture. SCRAP IT!
Guest BlueBrett Posted 19 February 2012 Posted 19 February 2012 I hate everything about this terrible idea
Trav Le Bleu Posted 19 February 2012 Posted 19 February 2012 So open to abuse. Plus the number of times when I've been in the right (at least in my opinion) and been abused by someone else who thinks that they had right of way. Perspective is the key word here. Scroobious Pip says it better than me. http://youtu.be/PkvWOAJeZmM
lavrentis Posted 19 February 2012 Posted 19 February 2012 What about second hand cars with bad drivers as previous owners ?
AoWW Posted 19 February 2012 Posted 19 February 2012 Interesting to see that the OP hasn't stuck around to address any of these issues.
lavrentis Posted 19 February 2012 Posted 19 February 2012 Such a bad idea In the words of Duncan Bannatyne, I hope this never catches on and I'm out
Trav Le Bleu Posted 19 February 2012 Posted 19 February 2012 Actually, I feel this is an appropriate gif to reply with.
pSinatra Posted 19 February 2012 Posted 19 February 2012 I had a look at the terms of use & it's even more scary than it first appears. There's also a DATING section on the website - for that gorgeous blonde you see every morning at the lights. "You drive like a c*nt.......but you're sexy as hell. Fancy going out?"
Captain... Posted 19 February 2012 Posted 19 February 2012 Actually, I feel this is an appropriate gif to reply with. That GIF is awesome, I can't tell what it bounces off though. On the website, if used responsibly and not abused by the likes of Born Blue in his vendetta against his neighbour , it could actually be useful, in a way. I think somewhere to report dangerous driving in a less public way would be better, as long as anything entered is treated as hearsay rather than evidence. It could also be used as a form of good, I think something that is monitored by the police and any reponses are mailed to the offendant by the DVLA or somewhere that has registration records. It could be used to report much more things than dangerous driving, broken rear light for example, you don't know it's gone until someone tells you. There may also be cases where the child is using the car and driving badly and it would alert the parents that they are doing so. Looking at the website though it looks pretty stupid, with the funnies section and dating section, anyone who drives carelessly is not going to check on the website, but it a proper scheme sponsored by the police and the DVLA I would support, I guess this is the big society Cameron is on about, let someone else do it badly rather than actually put some thought into it and do it correctly. Spain has a system of reporting people, whereby you can phone the police quote a reg number and they will send you a fine, just like that, they are normally fairly easy to contest, but I imagine some people will just pay it as they know they are wrong and don't want to risk paying more and getting a permanent record. Thing is they all drive terribly in Spain, but it is very rare that people are "denounced".
Bellend Sebastian Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 I don't really see the point of having this stuff in the public domain, because as already pointed out it could easily be abused. I do think though that having an easy way of submitting reports of driving misdemeanours to the old Bill would be useful though. If they get lots of reports of a vehicle being driven in the manner of a serial dickhead they can look out for them or actively go and find them. It's got to be better than just sitting by the road on the off chance that someone does something stupid
Saxondale Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 What about second hand cars with bad drivers as previous owners ? And this!! I can imagine some chap (who cycles to work) standing at the side of the road somewhere, with a clipboard and hi-vis jacket, making notes about passing drivers, then going home and writing pedantic reports about their driving. Just for a hobby. Someone like this: One day, the world will be run by these people.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 Great idea, but already the brain dead morons are chastising it. Shame on them. PIMP drivers
