Trav Le Bleu Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 Is apparently the average consumption, according to Southeast water. http://www.southeast...terefficiency:0 On average we each use 160 litres of water per person every day. It’s important we use water wisely so there are sufficient supplies of this precious resource for everyone now and in the future That 35.2 (roughly) gallons in old money. And a typical family of four would use over 140 gallons a day! As someone who rarely washes, I find this hard to believe, but it's no wonder there's a drought!
Fox You Forest Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 I blame El Empty, he still showers six times a day because he's worried about contracting bird flu.
Zingari Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 I found this hard to believe so i've just looked at my last quarterly bill and I've used 65 cubic metres of water in 3 months, so that equals 65,000 litres and I divided this by 92 ( approx number of days in 3 months) and this equals 706 litres per day and there is just me and missus so that makes 353 litres each per day . So have I got this correct or do I use over double the fecking average ? edit ; I've just checked my bill and it is for 6 months not 3 months so it's about right , what a silly old twat I am I'm still a bit over the average though , so that's it I shall drink only lager henceforth , I've got to do my bit
Leicfox Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 USA consumption is 500 litres a day per person, compared to in developing countries, some people have only two litres a day.

Zingari Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 if you're going to drink all that lager - the average toilet flush uses 8 litres of water..........best start peeing in the garden been doing that for years it's supposed to be good for the rhododendrons
pSinatra Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 been doing that for years it's supposed to be good for the rhododendrons High in nitrogen - important for healthy leaf & stem growth. Rhododendrons like it particularly acidic too!!
sphericalfox Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 been doing that for years it's supposed to be good for the rhododendrons I probably double your usage. It's the wife's floaters I can't get rid without four or five good hard flushes.

sphericalfox Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 good firm stools are a sign of rude good health . is she a sporty lass ? Firm stools sink like Italian cruise ships, these bad boys have me wondering if she's eating the washing up sponges. flush. flush. flush. I'm not sitting down til they're gone! I use the draping technique too (application of loo roll, to encapsulate their mass with some weight action) There's always one of those tricky maltesers that escape to my fury.

I always recommend throwing a bucket of water in synchronized fashion down the pan at the same time as flushing It would need to be a very buoyant stool to overcome this cataract What you have to do is have the full bucket ready by your side , and then flush , when the flush is at it's peak you empty the bucket into the pan in a sort of slam dunk movement ( not just pouring ) Most toilet pan blockages can be cured in this manner too
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 We had, may still have certain degrees of water restrictions over here. No washing your car, watering your garden etc.

Unfortunately I come across the same problem at work too. There's nothing more devasting to seeing somebody else's floating chod staring back up at you without a bit of paper in sight in the pan. It begs the question whether that person dropped their farse and decided that job's a goodun and sauntered back into the workplace without taking the time to wipe or send their handiwork on its way. BTW My wife wouldn't mind me telling you made up stories on the internet cos she's cool like that. We even have one of them flush saver bags in the cistern, so for a family of 3 we do our bit.

I am Rod Hull Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 It all goes back into the system, so I cant see the problem... Its not like we`re hoarding it...
acooling08 Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 Much of that is probably flushing the toilet though right?
ozleicester Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 I found this hard to believe so i've just looked at my last quarterly bill and I've used 65 cubic metres of water in 3 months, so that equals 65,000 litres and I divided this by 92 ( approx number of days in 3 months) and this equals 706 litres per day and there is just me and missus so that makes 353 litres each per day . I suggest you remain with your water consumption as it is, however, whenever the washing up etc is to be done, you must drink the equivalent amount of Lager.
sphericalfox Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 In actuality the amont of personal use of water is miniscule in comparision to the amount wastedby bad infrastructure, pipes broken etc, and the sheer amount of water it takes to grow something that gets wasted or thrown away after purchase in the UK from agricultural means. Farmers use inefficient methods and on the giant scale industrial farms water is wasted like its going out of fashion. This is where we should be concentrating our anger, oh and at the sky of course for not bringing the rain.
Zingari Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 Personally I blame the immigrants. do they wash ? Your not thinking... drinking water would only account for a small percentage of your water use, Showering, toileting and washing up etc are MUCH bigger users. I suggest you remain with your water consumption as it is, however, whenever the washing up etc is to be done, you must drink the equivalent amount of Lager. Sorry oz , but although your plan is sound I believe it to be somewhat half hearted . If I’m going to save the planet’s resources I can’t afford to mess about. Henceforth I shall not wash but will rely on the rainfall (we have enough of it here in blighty) when I intend to strip off in the garden for ablutions and I will encourage all my neighbours to join me ( in particular Mrs Davis over the road would be very welcome) Washing up will no longer be an issue because I intend to live on fish and chips and takeaways and eat them from the containers Clothes washing will be a simple matter of going into the garden fully dressed on rainy days armed with some non bio washing liquid . I won’t bother asking the neighbours to join me unless Mrs Davis wants to come over and do her summer T-shirts Toilet flushing will be achieved by using rain water butts to store water and I’ll go out and fill a bucket prior to every visit. I’ve informed the missus of this plan and although she doesn’t seem entirely sold ( her actual words were “fook off you twat” ) but I think I’ll talk her round The money I save from these measures will be used to finance the purchase of lager and takeaways , so as you can see it is sort of self financing project and with the bonus of saving the planet’s natural resources . it’s win win win all the way .(Especially if Mrs Davis takes up the challenge) Anyway I thought this was the kind of stuff you did in Oz all the time . I thought if a bloke wanted a really good wash he’d jump in and wrestle with a crocodile for a good old agitated full spin clothes and body wash ( like a sort of primitive jaccuzzi)
jonlcfc1990 Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 I honestly can't remember the last time i even had a glass of water let alone a litre
Zingari Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 I've been told that people who don't drink enough water suffer from very bad memory loss
