tylesta Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 we have seen various in the centre back postions everyone saying ssl and morgans the best, we have yet to see morgan and sol paired together...be a beast of a pairing maybe pearson might give everyone a chance for the remaining games this season we have 4 decent centre backs at the club not many teams can say that i would like to keep all 4 as we will need cover at somepoint

The more games any two of our centre-halves play together, the better they should learn each other's style of play. If/when it does become mathematically impossible for us to reach the playoffs, then I agree - NP should experiment, but until then, if it ain't broke...
HoustonFox Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 No, no, a thousand times no. He doesn't have the stamina, touch, distribution to play there. He would basically sit and clean up. A waste of a position and why bring it up when Wellens and Danns are forming a partnership based on hustle and drive, with some neat passing to boot (although Dannsy's touch can sometimes let him down) and we have Drinkwater in the wings who can easily come in and replace (and in time, surpass) either of them. Much as I love Big Sol, we can't shoehorn him in. How long have we been banging on about square pegs in round holes and we finally are using round pegs and people want to change it. Jeez! Just because he is tall, powerful(ish) and from the Ivory Coast, Yaya Toure he ain't.
leicesterisme Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 Before Bamba signed for Leicester, a few Hibernian fans touted him a better midfilder than a defender. If I am not mistaken, I am pretty sure he plays for Ivory in that position. I would like to see him play there for sure. Throughout the AFCON he played CB.

He played CB so don't think you have seen Ivory Coast play 3. He is a backup defender now IMO, SSL and Morgan are the two CB's on the team sheet week in week out IMO. Don't know what's happening with Mills
Jace Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 If this discussion comes up 1 more time on Foxestalk I will personally write to the makers of Football Manager 2012 and plead with them to remove Sol Bamba for next seasons edition

Jace Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 No you bloody won't! He PLAYS centre mid in my FM team.. Alongside Whittingham Leave it alone... Me too he's quality there guaranteed to win the Championship classic Sven 4-3-3 with Beckford, Nugent and Vassell up front!

Don't know what's happening with Mills Thank heaven's someone cleared it all up in a short list. Bamba to midfield has come up various times although he said he doesn't want to play in that position months ago.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 With Mills gone Bamba will be a backup, we have Danns, Drinkwater and Wellens for midfield, no need to mix it up now
ReyAzarola Posted 26 February 2012 Posted 26 February 2012 I've thought for a long time thiis would be the best position for him, the way he wins the ball and brings it forward. Doing that as a CB leaves a huge hole. However the teams playing well now and there is no need to start messing around with it now. Keep him on the bench for now until injury or loss of form or bust up with NP gives him a route back into the team.
