SOCCERROO FOX Posted 6 June 2014 Posted 6 June 2014 How can you dominate on a short-term contract? He's undoubtedly a great player and the type of signing that improves the market value and TV attraction no end. But whether he'll be able to leave a lasting impression, that's a doubtful. Great move for Heart City, nevertheless. Pretty easy, just slot 20 goals in the 10 games he will play!
Aus Fox Posted 6 June 2014 Posted 6 June 2014 The way the deal is done is a loan from NYC, allowing him to be paid by NYC and not affect Melbourne City's salary cap, allowing them still to have an overseas player outside the cap effectively having an extra marquee player. David Villa will have a field day in te A league and score for fun. Be interested who is next in for city
OzFox Posted 6 June 2014 Posted 6 June 2014 Villa's a step up from Harry that's for sure. Wonder what they're paying him? Sydney so far linked with Lampard, Drogba, Anelka, Forlan, Shola Ameobi.....it's like a retirement home

SOCCERROO FOX Posted 10 June 2014 Posted 10 June 2014 Damien Duff signed a one year deal at Melbourne Heart, they may start getting more than 12 people at there games
OzFox Posted 27 July 2014 Posted 27 July 2014 west ham looked awful....again. You know its bad when the manager's rumoured to be facing the sack before the season has even started
MC Prussian Posted 27 July 2014 Posted 27 July 2014 west ham looked awful....again.Shaky in the back against Sydney, but the third goal for the home side was a joke. Gameiro clearly used his arm, hence a terrible refereeing decision. Then again, seeing the West Ham defense getting fooled by Gameiro at the end of it is pretty entertaining stuff.
65RosesFox Posted 28 July 2014 Posted 28 July 2014 Hammers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSBUqz-M61Y i thought you could use your hand in aussie rules football...?
ozleicester Posted 13 August 2014 Author Posted 13 August 2014 Australia's first attempt at a true FA Cup, has begun, and pleasingly has begun with a pretty reasonable upset. http://indaily.com.au/sport/2014/08/13/adelaide-city-shock-wanderers/ Western Sydney Wanderers, probably in the best three sides in the country, have been rolled by a semi pro team Adelaide City. We can only hope that the FFA Cup goes on to become a truly great competition.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 I've enjoyed watching this the last 3 Tuesday nights, the "minnows" have been pretty decent and good to see some recognisable names. Also good to bring some attention to the lower grades of football and see them get a bit of a crowd and no doubt extra money.
ozleicester Posted 13 April 2015 Author Posted 13 April 2015 Perth Glory thrown out of finals for salary cap irregularities. - no shit Sherlock http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/football/perth-glory-banned-from-a-league-finals-after-being-found-guilty-of-salary-cap-breaches/story-fnhq6mze-1227298493358
Aus Fox Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 And 1 point seperateing the top 5 with 2 games to go! Great season!

Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan,Jordan, and Bangladesh. http://indaily.com.au/sport/2015/04/15/socceroos-get-favourable-cup-draw/ ROUND TWO GROUPS OF AFC ASIAN QUALIFYING FOR THE 2018 RUSSIA WORLD CUP Group A: UAE, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Timor-Leste, Malaysia Group B: Australia, Jordan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Bangladesh Group C: China, Qatar, Maldives, Bhutan, Hong Kong Group D: Iran, Oman, India, Turkmenistan, Guam Group E: Japan, Syria, Afghanistan, Singapore, Cambodia Group F: Iraq, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan Group G: South Korea, Kuwait, Lebanon, Burmar, Laos Group H: Uzbekistan, Bahrain, Philippines, North Korea, Yemen Ive highlighted my tips for winners
MC Prussian Posted 15 April 2015 Posted 15 April 2015 Don't rule out Qatar in Group C - they've done it in handball before, and they'll surely dish out Qatari passports en masse to some more foreign players to make them more competitive.

Fair point and i also was looking at North Korea in Group H... they will win the group, no matter what the results
Aus Fox Posted 15 April 2015 Posted 15 April 2015 Don't rule out UAE either in group A, think they will give the Saudis a run for their money. Group H is defo the group of death with North Korea and Bharain more than capable of an upset.
Guest Col city fan Posted 15 April 2015 Posted 15 April 2015 I LOVE the A league.. The atmosphere is usually loud and there's nearly always goals? And have often wondered about the comparable standard in England? Probably lower Championship perhaps?

Ive only been to Adelaide Utd and Perth but the atmos has been fab at both... standing/terraces and the shed end in perth are fantastic. In fairness id put the quality at good League 1 and maybe just bottom end championship.

I'd be shouting for the Victory. Any advice on the best way to tour round/who to fly with etc would be greatly appreciated. Finally, and this is a real issue...I have a phobia (as in a proper phobia) of big insects, especially spiders. Would this be a problem if I visited Aus?

A couple of points and im sure you will have heard it but anyway... OZ is huge and many of the bits of natural beauty are spread out across the country so i recommend having a very solid plan of what are the things you want to see and do, get them in order so that you know what is most important to you and what might drop off the list. As a guide, a flight from Syd to Perth is a good 4.5+ hours in the air If it is sport your interested in, Melbourne really is the best place, they do sport better than anyone. The best of Outback Oz is either the Northern Territory or Northern West OZ. Melb and Syd are great cities for nightlife. Adelaide has a superb festival fringe in March if alternative arts are your thing, and if your looking for beaches and weather then Perth and The Gold Coast are the best (the gold coast is great if you like a theme park or two as well). In terms of getting around, over recent years there has been a fabulous reduction in flight costs, it used be horrendously expensive but these days there are many options. The cheapest flight option is usually Tiger Air, basically similar to Ryan air, no frills but effective. I find skyscanner as the best website for chasing cheapies and Airbnb has just taken off here, so some good options there for accom. Re the spiders... no, i really dont think youll have too much trouble ( in fairness the size doesnt matter, the little ones will killya just the same). As with the UK, we have the Daddy Long legs everywhere, the biggest youll likely come across are the "Huntsmen", i wont put a pic, they are a good size but not deadly and you will occasionally find them inside, they are grumpy buggers but its rare for me to see more than 3 or 4 a year. You do have to be careful especially with outdoor furniture etc as the redbacks get quite comfy in the lawn chairs etc. Theres a few big arse ants youll see if you go bush and general bugs but nothing to serious unless you are really camping in the outback. Snakes n stuff, again youll be lucky to see 1 or 2 a year in suburbia, in fact i havent seen one in the burbs for a couple of years. Hope that helps, OZ is a stunning place, more than happy to offer any ideas, advice or suggestions if it helps.

Guest Col city fan Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Just watching the A league Grand Final. Absolutely brilliant...the Aussies take NO prisoners... Muscat and Arnold scampering about on the touch line. All blood and thunder. Great spectacle. COME ON VICTORY!
