Jon the Hat Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 Yeah my cousin was at Kings Park. He put a beautiful pic on Facebook.
Finnegan Posted 24 April 2014 Posted 24 April 2014 Isn't it tomorrow? Or is it tomorrow already there? How early are you up if so?!
Finnegan Posted 24 April 2014 Posted 24 April 2014 All I know is Anzac Day throws up some great rugby games! Apologies if that's insensitive!
ozleicester Posted 24 April 2014 Author Posted 24 April 2014 Not in the least.. this is OZ, sport IS a religion, the AFL will fill the MCG with 100,000 people to see the traditional footy match. "Two Up" is officially legal for the day and is played in RSL's and clubs around the country. The dawn service is very solemn and respectful... then its a day of remembrance and respect.
Finnegan Posted 24 April 2014 Posted 24 April 2014 "Then it's a day of remembrance and respect" that's Aussie for getting trashed isn't it? Chiefs Brumbies "tonight" should be great.
ozleicester Posted 24 April 2014 Author Posted 24 April 2014 , I hope so Oh and i just realised, i am not king of australia (yet) therefore i cannot say that your comment wasnt offensive to everyone in australia So on behalf fo those people.... BASTARD!
morris1234 Posted 24 April 2014 Posted 24 April 2014 As much as these threads are often with sadness, I can't help but smile when I read these or any other when it comes to those we must remember from such times. Why? Because the complete all round honor and respect shown to these people, their achievements, sacrifice and stories gives me goosebumps. Lest we forget
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Always a great day to pay respects. Im not sure if it's because I get older or not but I think ANZAC day has taken on greater significants in recent years and more and more people pay respects at dawn services around the country.
ozleicester Posted 24 April 2015 Author Posted 24 April 2015 Tomorrow is the 100th anniversary... nice tribute here... http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-04-24/federation-square-taken-over-by-a-sea-of-handmade-poppies/6419068
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 24 April 2015 Posted 24 April 2015 Just a few photos i thought i would upload, a lot of ANZAC heroes there mate. Lest we forget. All very humbling. God bless them.
Vacamion Posted 25 April 2015 Posted 25 April 2015 Hey Antipodeans, Just so you know, the dawn ANZAC commemorations were top story on the news up on our side of the planet this morning. In the middle of an election campaign, I think it shows that remembrance is taken very seriously.
Finnegan Posted 25 April 2015 Posted 25 April 2015 Stadium full of Kiwis upstanding respectfully and applauding as a New Zealand soldier sings Advance Australia Fair. Not sure even we're that respectful, fair play.
