Ashley Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 This may have been asked before on this forum but how come we have stopped using the multi Ball system?
Happy Fox Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 They cost a lot of money?, it is form of cheating to use a new ball?
anotherharboroughfox Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 The ball boys have been taken to work in Thai sweatshops
HEGGSY Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 It was banned by the FL. Happy Fox, in what way is it "cheating" It's not fvcking cricket.
Ashley Posted 26 April 2012 Author Posted 26 April 2012 They cost a lot of money?, it is form of cheating to use a new ball? You do know the balls the players warm up with pre-match are of a match standard quality? It's not like they warm up with one ba is it We always used to use the multi ball system.
Libertine Dream Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 Football League stopped it in the summer Multi ball and 7 subs should be brought back this year but they wont. When will fans start to get any say?

Shame really that you can't use the multi ball system. It's still in use in the Premier League though, right?

Don't think it is, got banned at the same time. Its a shame as it stops time wasting to a degree and speeds the game up
Happy Fox Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 Looks like I am not the only one that concurs with this way of thinking about cheating http://services.pinkun.com/forums/pinkun/cs/forums/2485151/PrintPost.aspx Re: Multi ball system tonight City1st 13/04/2011, 12:11 PM This has been a common complaint amongst many clubs. What has never been addressed is the impact this has on the ballboys. A club is teaching youngsters that cheating is ok. Maybe a few City fans might care to contact Watford by email [email protected] and point out there disapproval of such actions. As to the referee I fail to see how behaviour like this cannot be easily stopped. Firstly simply have a systen whereby a raised arm. put across the chest etc signifies that the clock has been stopped If ball is out of playand the ballboys are not returning it in time for what ever reason the clock is stopped untiol the player takes the thrown and the ball returns to play. Continual time wasting should result in a free kick to the other team. Encrouchment is down to the linesman. He should indicate from where the ball went out and again penalise, with a warning first, then a free kick should a player move the throw forward. We have a system where you can be booked for taking your shirt off after a goal has been scored but no sanction when a club organises for cheating and a players routinely cheat.
HEGGSY Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 Ah, but Happy Fox you posted that using a new ball itself was a form of cheating and not the ball boys time wasting, two completely different things.
Happy Fox Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 Ah, but Happy Fox you posted that using a new ball itself was a form of cheating and not the ball boys time wasting, two completely different things. Essentially I was on the right lines of thinking or maybe actually I think I am talking shit , but anyway here is the rest of it, you cannot blame the ball though can you? It isn't a human being, the ball boys I presume are intelligent enough not to time waste..
Raw Dykes Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 Football League stopped it in the summer Multi ball and 7 subs should be brought back this year but they wont. When will fans start to get any say? The 7 subs rule, I think, was voted against by the majority of football league clubs. I'm guessing that must be mostly League 2 and League 1 clubs, as I think most Championship clubs would rather have 7. Apparently, the rule has to be the same for all three divisions for some reason. I can't work out why. If 7 subs would be a benefit to nearly all, if not all, Championship clubs, why can't the Football League just set the rule to 7 subs for the Championship, and 5 for Leagues 1 and 2? It'd help academy players get more opportunities in the first team, and teams would be able to have a backup on the bench for more positions on the pitch. For example, there could be a backup GK on the bench, but clubs are encouraged to risk going without.

It could easily be the same as FFP, it isn't going to make an iota of a difference in league one and two imo.

Stig the Lawnmower Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 multi ball is shit. always ends up with two balls on the pitch at once, so play has to stop. You only need one ball!!!
FrankieADZ Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 i remember we scrapped it after an oppo manager moaned about it. Agree with Stig tho, always found that there be 2 balls on the pitch aswell.

Raw Dykes Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 I personally dont get why any club wouldnt want 7 subs anyway?! I think the poorer clubs thought they'd be at a disadvantage, because they couldn't afford as much strength in depth as the richer clubs. I'm not sure if they've got that right, though. I think it could just let clubs put academy players on the bench more often.

Ah yeah, i remember that....but it couldnt have been Coventry....we could have gave them 5 balls on the pitch and they'd still have trouble getting it in our 6 yard box
