bald reynard Posted 1 May 2012 Posted 1 May 2012 End of another season and the usual question comes up again (for me at least !), will we enter a Reserve League for next year ? When he was here before, I'm sure Pearson said that he's like City to have a Reserve Team in a League - but that finances (then - under Mad Mandy) didn't allow. That's unlikley now under the current Thai regime (who I'm sure could support it financially, if Nige pushed for it). I wonder if it might happen this year ? I for one, think it could be really beneficial - especially if we've got a biggish squad and the FL don't allow more than the 5 subs again next season.
Captain... Posted 1 May 2012 Posted 1 May 2012 I really fvcking hope so, it is madness that we don't have one, when other clubs in the championship do, and yet they vote against having 7 subs. It really is the first thing I would change if had any kind of sway at the club.
bald reynard Posted 1 May 2012 Author Posted 1 May 2012 Must be raining in Cumbria this morning! It IS raining - and I just realised that I hadn't asked that question yet this year (and you know I like to raise it every close season - well have done for 4 or 5 years now, since the last Reserve side was packed up !). You'll see, I also asked my perennial question, about a need for another Coach - and got the usual response (from Bert this time !), that the one they travel on is enough !
Webbo Posted 1 May 2012 Posted 1 May 2012 Aren't we entering an U21 league next year? Will we be able to field a couple of over aged players should we need to give them a run out?
Captain... Posted 1 May 2012 Posted 1 May 2012 Aren't we entering an U21 league next year? Will we be able to field a couple of over aged players should we need to give them a run out? First I've heard of this, sounds interesting though, would prefer a genuine reserve league, I am sure our bloated squad could have done with some more match action this season, we may even have got Johnson fit, as much as it is great for the youngsters we need to be keeping our second string sharp so they are able to seamlessly slot in when we have suspensions and injuries.
carlhltid Posted 1 May 2012 Posted 1 May 2012 didnt realise we didnt have one we should be in a reserves league always used too

I'm not certain. I thought I read something here about it recently.

maxwelld_ Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 yer i would love to see FNF back , its what got me into watching city, great for the kids and extra revenue for us
Criggers Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 yer i would love to see FNF back , its what got me into watching city, great for the kids and extra revenue for us Second vote from me. FNF was fantastic, I went so many times as a kid since it was a bit much for my dad to fork out for match tickets all the time. What was it, a quid for kids and fiver for adults? It was worth going all those weeks just to get a view of a first team player every now and then, usually on way back from injury. Helps with competition for places as well I would think. This gets mentioned a lot too, but bring back the Foxy Ladies as well!
Dan Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 I have no idea why we ever pulled out, I don't know what you could gain from it.
RyanB89 Posted 3 May 2012 Posted 3 May 2012 It is strange that we dont have one, where was this u21 thing announced?
