(As long as you can tell the difference between schiessen and scheissen, you're ok)

That old chestnut.

Right, that's it. I was us to be twinned with Bochum Football Club now.

Who speaks German? Get on their forums.

Don't worry, we already have been ;)

We have some germans coming to us in October and I'm hoping to organise the return trip out there, which hopefully will be the biggest trip yet, probably for Febuary 2013.

BARNET BOCHUM LEICESTER CITY :chant:

Anyway, as we're on about German football allegiances - it's all about these lot...

They're the Leicester of Germany! Blue and White, yo-yo between the top two divisions, unlucky in Cup finals, and both their main rivals consider themselves above them. Few of their fans come over once or twice a season for City games and vice versa. Probably the closest thing we have to an international friendship! :D

Not worth a thread but I couldn't think of anywhere else to put this. As I may have mentioned I've just got back from Halkadiki ,Greece on holiday. The local team there, PAOK, seem to have some sort of close friendship with the Serbian team Partizan Belgrade. There were shirts and towels like this everywhere.

There were ,to a lesser extent, some tee shirts for sale, linking Olympiarkos with Red Star Belgrade.

Does anyone know anything about this? Is it a religious or political or just some historical connection?

My understanding is it's a bit of a religious thing. Both Orthodox countries etc.

That was my impression too. I wondered why though Paok were specifically linked with Partizan and no other Serbian team and Olympiarkos with Red Star etc?

Paok play in Black & White as do Partizan?

Olympiakos play in Red & White as do Red Star?

Just throwing it out there

It might be as simple as that. :D

This is the reason.

PAOK also have connections with Juventus and OFI for the same reason.

They tried with Newcastle but couldn't understand a word the fans said!

Bumping this thread.

VfL Bochum having a pretty poor time of it this season I'm afraid.

Currently fourth from bottom in Bundesliga 2, but did have a couple of decent results against Dresden and Paderborn before Christmas and the winter break.

A tough game coming up on Friday against Aalen though before the weekend where the Leicester contingent travel to see them play Regensburg at home.

I'm not sure a relegation battle was what Bochum had in mind pre-season, but let's hope they have enough.
