Guest MattP Posted 11 January 2013 Posted 11 January 2013 Winning ODI's in India now without our best side available. What a turnaround, showing great mental strength and justifying the number one sport in the ODI rankings. First time in a while we've got a real chance in Australia in a year.

What a turnaround, showing great mental strength and justifying the number one sport in the ODI rankings. First time in a while we've got a real chance in Australia in a year. Tense run chase though, crazy to think India were ahead until the final 3 balls, fair play Samit, not always been a fan of his, it was good to see everyone contributing though with bat and ball, would liked to have seen Root bat, but I understand why they pushed the big hitters up the orders. Isn't this thread a little out of date now though?
marko Posted 11 January 2013 Author Posted 11 January 2013 Cracking game! Thought the Indians might win it when Bresnan's catch was - wrongly, in my opinion - given not out. Excellent batting at the end of our innings by Patel and Kieswetter too. I'm not their biggest fan, but credit where it's due.

Good point The ending sealed it for us, was a fantastic knock from Samit, wish he would free himself up more like that, a far better player when he does.
Corky Posted 11 January 2013 Posted 11 January 2013 Dernbach got smashed around but that over when he got two including Dhoni was a massive turning point. Tredwell was superb.

Do not rate Dernbach at all he struggled massively when he played domestically down here. Tredwells bowling and Patels late order batting were the difference. Also wasn't it passed Roots bedtime? He looks about 12

Guest MattP Posted 12 January 2013 Posted 12 January 2013 I agree on Dernbach, not consistent enough. World Cup bowling attack should be along the lines of Swann, Finn, Broad, Meaker and Bresnan.
chrishlcfc Posted 12 January 2013 Posted 12 January 2013 Dernbach bowls crap at the start and well at the end. He is a good death bowler though not only because he was bowling at the tail yesterday. He has a variety of slower balls and an excellent yorker, just needs to work on opening the bowling.

Guest MattP Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 Comfy win for the Indians to level it up. Can see how easier is it to bat in the sun compared to the evening here. Toss is vital.
Guest MattP Posted 18 January 2013 Posted 18 January 2013 Currently watching one of the best opening bowling displays I've ever seen from Kuwan Kulesekara. Aussies 35/7.

Guest MattP Posted 18 January 2013 Posted 18 January 2013 Spewing was hoping no one on the forum would notice this disgrace. No way were you getting off this. It's been strange, great bowling but some awful shot making. I know it's a different format but fills me with confidence for the ashes watching you against swing bowling like this. Mike Hussey might have to reconsider his decision.
Guest MattP Posted 18 January 2013 Posted 18 January 2013 When was the last time and International side played a one dayer and not a single player got into double figures?

Guest MattP Posted 18 January 2013 Posted 18 January 2013 Oh dear. Starc might just avoid that for you mind.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 18 January 2013 Posted 18 January 2013 Bold prediction by me to say we would still win with the scores 9-50, did well to make 73 and get them 6 down
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 18 January 2013 Posted 18 January 2013 Its runs first then wickets. Bloody Aussies. We wanted to finish up early and watch the tennis
chrishlcfc Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 England started the 2nd ODI very well. Jimmy Anderson bowling superbly again
Guest MattP Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 Root looking the business, one day side looks good at the minute. Could make a real run at the Champions Trophy this summer.
purpleronnie Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 Has Anderson been injured? Thank fook he's back.
