We did something similar in Vegas by posing next to one of the group in bars and restaurants.

Didn't work in a restaurant but in a bar a group of Yanks wanted a photo after seeing it.

Nicely done (although Times Square is teeming with tourists and is perhaps the easiest place in the world to pull that trick).

I remember a documentary from the '90s called Painting the Town about an artist/cab driver in NYC that was a specialist at crashing celebrity parties and funerals. His favorite trick was to show up to the entrance followed by his friends posing as paparazzi, pestering him with non-stop photos, so everyone around thought he must have been famous and would just let him walk in anywhere.

Surprised the americans haven't had him on a chat show for doing this and made him a celeb anyway, great stunt just shows how gullable people are and how depressingly attractive any sort of fame is to most people nowadays.
