The Year Of The Fox

Greatest Sporting Moment 2012

Super Saturday, Ennis, Farah and Rutherford is probably the best Sporting day in British history.

Also the Ryder Cup comes a close second, after this year it's probably my favourite sporting event, never enjoyed watching Golf so much, was absolute quality.

Aguero's winner for me. It probably says more about our season than anything but I celebrated more for that goal than any Leicester one, although I went a bit mental when we beat Norwich.

I thought Farah's two golds were pretty special. Very exciting races.

The finish to the Grand National, one of the best finishes ever and the right horse won.

The Champions League semi final/final was amazing to watch, but I fvcking hate Chelsea.

Exactly the bbc were always going the hype it up, so you just enjoy it for what it is, take out of it what you want. Just because Sky tell you the premier league is the best league in world and every game is awesome you don't blindly believe it do you? They want you to watch so they tell you it's going to be great, in reality they have no idea if it'll be great or not because it hadn't happened yet. Seems to me like you had already made your mind up that you weren't going to like the Olympics, so much so you didn't even give them chance to prove you wrong.

No i can't stand people who copy what sky sports say about the PL without giving it thought for theirselves.

Even now the BBC milk the Olympics and how it was watched by 'everyone.' You're right I couldn't get excited about it, I just couldn't stand the idea of watching mainly dull sports (i include the olympic football in that)Sports that otherwise had no interest until they prefixed the sport with the word 'olympic' which then suddenly become must see events! I'm not saying people shouldn't vote it as their favourite moment by the way

Back on topic Sky Sports 1 are talking about it now. Mark Cavendish and Lee Evans separated at birth?

The BBC were always going to milk it.

I just wish Mr Blatter would give us a chance to put the biggest competition on in our country.

It'd dwarf the feel good factor from the Olympics and would show the toffs what football can be like

And rightly so. The BBC did the right thing in giving it a hell of a lot of attention and providing loads of coverage on one of the best sporting occasions a lot of people in this world will see Great Britain host. I just wish Channel 4 did the same with the Paralympics.

Really? I think it's ridiculous it was on terrestrial TV at all.

If van Gerwen hit that double 12 last night, the back to back 9 darters would have been my choice no doubt. It's still up there and might win it after I've had a think.

Man City QPR is up there aswell. Was supporting QPR but still loved it.

Are you serious? You think disabled athletes should have been stuck on some obscure subscription channel?

Aguero's goal still sends shivers down my spine. I went insane when he bagged haha absolutely mental. We'll definitely never see anything like that again.

Everything about the Olympics was quality as well, can't really pick out a single moment except that 45 minutes on the final saturday, unreal. Ryder Cup was insane as well, although it looked like we were down and out, you could just sense something big was going to happen. Best year ever for sport since I've been alive.

Being in Sri Lanka to watch us retain World Number 1, the series win in India was superb as well.

Bradley Wiggins winning the TDF.

That hour in the Olympic Stadium.

Aguero's winner.

Amazed nobody's mentioned a third Grand Slam in eight years.

Makes you realise how good it is to be English/British when that's the best :P

Yeh.

They're the elite in disabled people. You can't compare them to people who are actually the elite in sport. Fair play to them for being active, but they aren't proper athletes.

Crikey. I sort of understand what you're trying to say but "aren't proper athletes"? Fvcking hell.

:o.

Why aren't they 'proper athletes'? What makes one of those? Fully-limbed and mentally/physically complete?

I think it had to be agueros last minute winner, I was screaming my head off and I hate both manchester clubs lol

I think Chelsea winning the champions league in that style was a close second.

Been a decent year for sport.

Carl Froch beating Lucian Bute (Boxing) was pretty good, he was quite a heavy underdog but made Bute look like he didn't belong in the same ring.

:xmasblink: I don't even want to waste my breath on such ridiculous, retarded statements. Pathetic.

The Olympics for me. They were outstanding, not just for the medals but the whole event. Man city's late winner to win the league was dramatic and if you believe sky then you'd think it has never happened before, so I'm glad that someone brought up 1989 and Michael Thomas. To put it into context for those who weren't around or think football was invented in 1992, the Liverpool v Arsenal match had been scheduled to be played in April but was postponed in the wake of the Hillsborough disaster so was ree arranged to Friday 26 May, a couple of weeks after the end of the season. Liverpool had a few games to catch up on and as I recall played West ham at Anfield the previous Tuesday and won 5-1 which meant they went into the final game with Arsenal 3 points ahead. The goal difference meant that the Gunners would need to win by two clear goals and Liverpool had not lost at home by that margin in years and years. Alan Smith's goal early in the second half set up the dramatic finale.

So they don't deserve to have their outstanding achievements viewed and recognised by the nation because they're disabled and can't post the same times as able-bodied athletes?

I'm actually lost for words. These people have to fight against incredible odds and adversity to get to the levels where they are, and lets face it, they still post good times. You say they aren't "proper athletes", but I bet even the slowest would still wipe the floor with you, you ignorant tw@!

Fortunately, the world is more accepting of disabilities these days, but it appears you're still stuck in the 19th century. Mind you don't drag your knuckles too much on the way back to your cave.,

The last day of the EPL season, so much drama.

Black Caviar winning at royal ascot......only just.

My personal favourite tho would have to be Melbourne Storm winning the national rugby league grand final after all the issues they have had and almost folding 2 seasons early. Was even more special being a season ticket holder and being able to head up to sydney to see the win was amazing.
