Doubtless that some of the names mentioned are gonna be good players, but we need an older head or two to take em by the scruff of the neck and to give em a bollocking when they need it. This has been clear to me since the start of the season and is still clear IMO. This

I'd hazard a guess that an ageing veteran midfielder allowed to leave on loan from their parent club may not be up to much either. As every manager always says, they'll bring someone in if they improve on whats already here. Putting previous aside, Wellens has played well in his most recent appearances and in fairness, bar his Hollywood Hogan stint under Sven, has done throughout his time with us. I'd prefer us to sign another winger if we're getting anyone. Stoke said they'd let Jermaine Pennant out on loan and with the dip in form of Marsh, Knocky and Dyer, that would be one i'd look at. But then again he is a prize cvnt.

But central midfield is equally as important the likes of Wellens and Danns will be offloaded, we would need at least 2 central midfielders experienced and having quality is vital Neville/Whitehead would provide that and a playmaker in Whittingham for example not that we would get him but you never know!

My mistake. Assumed everyone was on about the loan window. In the summer I'd expect a number to leave and a number to come in. Signing a steely midfielder seems to be on everyones wishlist so fair enough.

There is at least one player being mentioned as surplus to requirements ,who has arguably been man of the match in the last two games ,and i for one think these boring ,rumour mongers should stfu,stop being so bloody negative & get behind him & the rest of the players for a final push for promotion !!!

He's played about 9 games for us this season and has looked distinctly average in all of them. I wouldn't say he was playing amazingly well before his injury - we were on a good run of form, but I don't think you can put that down to SSL. People on here absolutely slate Whitbread, but SSL is no better than him, yet he seems to get absolutely bummed by most people on this board because he's got a few Ireland caps. When you consider the fact that he's on Sven-era wages, I am more than comfortable in saying that he's not worth the money we're paying him and I would have absolutely no problem at all if he was shipped out. Do you feel better for saying that? Sphincter boy? I don't feel better, I don't feel worse - I'm just stating my opinion. I don't rate him. Why don't you **** off and give him a cuddle?

What happens if one of our CBs gets injured? You can't call a player back from loan under 4 weeks. I'm hearing Crystal Palace, Brighton, Millwall, Leeds, Blackpool,, Wolves and Ipswich are in for him
