Oakes5 Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 Isn't that what Chris wood can do? Chris Wood has gone missing in past games. Not all his fault because the midfield has been terrible and he's had no support. But Davies brings back a dirty style of play which we all loved when we had Steve Howard come on for last 10 mins to knock seven shades of shit out of people. Or why not Davies and Wood try and defend that!
foxfanazer Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 I know it won't happen but wouldn't it be in the interest of man city to let Scott Sinclair go on loan to a promotion chasing championship club?
LCFC FOX Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 I know it won't happen but wouldn't it be in the interest of man city to let Scott Sinclair go on loan to a promotion chasing championship club? Good shout, would love that to happenSinclair and Powell on loan for the rest of the season should do us!

Or why not Davies and Wood try and defend that! But if we play that 433 (more like 451) again, it doesn't matter who we have up front, he will still have no support. Wood has looked poor recently, along with most of the players, but he has no support (Nugent isn't a winger and is to far away from Wood) and the stupid long ball from Kasper does not work, and Wood ends up looking frustrated. We need to revert back to 442 with freeflowing football (and I enhance the keyword football - on the ground) with real wingers. We looked good, even when Wood first joined the club, when we played consistent football with Marshall and Knockaert looking dangerous out wide. We need James back, too.
indierich06 Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 Kevin Davies last year was an England International. His experience up front as a Target Man could help with our Plan B (oh shit sorry just realised we dont have a Plan B) Yes its back to basics but a player like him could have a big say when we're losing a game towards end of match. Seems to me that ever since Chris Wood's been here we've been playing Pearson's Plan B - hump the ball up to the big man and hope for the best. If we want any chance of getting promoted, we need to get back to our Plan A - slick passing, fast, attacking football. That'd be lovely. Kevin Davies has flattered to deceive for years - I don't think he's ever score more than ten goals a season for Bolton and he's hardly torn up the Championship this year either? I think we need to get away from this long ball shit, not bring someone into to reinforce it.
Happy Fox Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 NP seems to have totally lost his conviction in playing football on the floor we are at our best when we do that, hopefully he implements this soon as we cannot play hoofball effectively we can but it is detrimental to getting wins!

I take your point, but I honestly feel our side played so much better without relying on long ball and target men. If we were going to stick with our current style (god forbid) then I agree he'd be a good signing but I'd like to see us go back to what we were doing early season. I've said it for a while but our regression in performances and results comes down to over-reliance on Wood when his all-round game isn't actually that good.
StanSP Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 Some of our fans would ruin Scott Sinclair more than Man City as a club have.

StanSP Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 'Pearson has told BBC Radio Leicester he's expecting no transfer activity' via Jason Bourne on Twitter. That's the end of that one!
bald reynard Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 'Pearson has told BBC Radio Leicester he's expecting no transfer activity' via Jason Bourne on Twitter. That's the end of that one! The mans an idiot - Pearson, not Bourne. We clearly need at least one new player. Without reinforcement(s), we're never going to make the play-offs - the current squad just isn't good enough / have lost 'the plot'. That's especially true of the midfield - no doubt we'll see Wellens in until the end of the season !

bald reynard Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 Perhaps he tried and couldn't get anyone he thought would improve on what he already has. You're very charitable Davie ! I think most normal football manager's would simply say that, if it was the case - Nige just likes to be inscrutable and leave the press / fans none the wiser ! No doubt you'll say, "well it was just a Twitter comment" - but I bet Nige will not expand much on it.
Guest Col city fan Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 When we are in the proverbial 'dogfight' for the 6th spot, why are so many people suggesting even more young Loanees? Doubtless that some of the names mentioned are gonna be good players, but we need an older head or two to take em by the scruff of the neck and to give em a bollocking when they need it. This has been clear to me since the start of the season and is still clear IMO.

Why do we only have to look at, "young loanees" - there must be a few 'wiser, older' heads out there as well - especially Prem / Championship players whose contracts are nearly up. Kevin Davies is one that springs to mind - but I bet there are many others. It's only Nige that just considers Under 21's / Man United Reserves. Look at the effect Hollowhead's had, with his signing of Kevin Phillips ?

Even if we have several players coming in, he won't say anything. Generally, the current squad must have 'lost the plot' because the same group of players were good enough for the play offs just a few weeks ago.
Happy Fox Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 Dean Whitehead is another out of contract at Stoke in June, would be the type of player we need to make us a more competitive outfit. Experience is necessary provided they have the quality.
JasonBourne1986 Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 The mans an idiot - Pearson, not Bourne. How can you be sure I'm not???!

Nige has not done much to sort it in that time, has he ? In fact, I think he's managed to make the team worse, chopping and changing the midfield and bringing in his 'trusted old guard' (Wellens & Gallagher), instead of an experienced loanee - or even an enthusiastic Academy player (for an example of that, look at the effect Schlupp had, when he came on as Sub recently ?)

I meant 'months' ... The worst thing he does is chop and change. One week Marshall is playing, the next he is on the bench. Not good enough for anybody, even the best player in the World. Like I said previously, we need to revert back to 442 where our wingers play consistently (in that I mean Marshall and Knockaert). We required a much tougher player in midfield, and the only player that offers that when James is out injured, is Wellens. And to be fair, he hasn't done bad in the games he has played. Still not sure what Gallagher brings though! I think it's harder to bring in someone than you realise. Yeah we might need a bit of experience in midfield, but who would you go for? Fair play to Schlupp for playing well against Derby, he'd be starting on Friday if I was manager.
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 This has been clear to me since the start of the season and is still clear IMO. 100% right
