MC Prussian Posted 10 April 2013 Posted 10 April 2013 Both of those blokes are more than bright enough to 'compete.' Im not even talking politics any more, I'm talking depth of thinking and broad-mindedness. If you honestly think the standard of debate and discussion on politics has improved on here over the past couple of years, I'd suggest having a lie down. I'd agree with that notion. The level of discussion and the general standards on here have deteriorated slightly over the course of the past two to three years.

Politics or Football or pretty much anything else for that matter. I'd imagine the Chebs thread has improved but given I only ever go on at work as and I rarely waste my own spare time on this rapidly dumbing down forum so unfortunatley I never get to reap the benefits. Sure Mark is happy with the increased number of active members and the increased advertising revenue it generates though so never mind about the standard of posting eh.
Tempwan Yierban Posted 10 April 2013 Posted 10 April 2013 Where does Nick fall in to this? Not seen him on here in ages. Both Dave and Nick are nice fellas and I've enjoyed beers and chats with them in the past. Clearly intelligent and interesting people. I have no idea why they chose to put up with me.

The level of discussion and the general standards on here have deteriorated slightly over the course of the past two to three years. Slightly??? A large percentage of the best posters have either disappeared or have been marginalised and rarely post. Admittedly many people grew up and got more commitments or maybe just fell out of love with Leicester. But slightly? Come on! Psst... It's the shirts. I must have been buying the drinks I think
Babylon Posted 10 April 2013 Posted 10 April 2013 I have no idea why they chose to put up with me. Both also colour blind so not put off by the shirts.
Tempwan Yierban Posted 10 April 2013 Posted 10 April 2013 Both also colour blind so not put off by the shirts. That would explain the Darius Danesh cd they were both listening to.

I still have faith in a large portion of the "newbies" on here and that they'll be able to participate in a enjoyable discussion, James. Also, you can't just blame the influx of some brain-dead naysayers for the disappearance and/or lack of influence of our beloved FT Founding Fathers and Mothers. In parts, it's partially down to the lack of time available (job-wise) or a self-chosen abstinence. Glad you're still around. If only you wouldn't change your username all the time.

I'm not too sure on that - seems like the discussion have actually become semi-serious nowadays... So then - they may be both dead, but who'd have won if Thatcher and Reagan had a cage fight?

So then - they may be both dead, but who'd have won if Thatcher and Reagan had a cage fight? Is this cage fight on land, in water or floating in the air? Are both combatants at equal age? The age they died at? Dead? You need to flesh this out if you want a serious response.

Can't have it in water or the sharks will descend - they come to help humans out of the cages they get trapped in, and end up getting bashed on the nose, the poor sods. I'll say on a space ship - a no-gravity fight could be quite amusing. Age when they were in power together - imagine they had a disagreement over something and decided to settle it like men, rather than like pussies with access to lots of missiles. Oh, and if bluebrett is still around - the answer is not Reagan because he's blacker.
Guest Bilo Posted 10 April 2013 Posted 10 April 2013 Holy crap, I remember this game! http://www.downingstreetfighter.com/ I think cage fighting is the way forward for those two. Or a rap battle.
MC Prussian Posted 10 April 2013 Posted 10 April 2013 I got banned for calling you a naughty word, so in many ways (well in one way) that's all your fault! You were doing so fine with your original account until you decided to "call it quits".
Manwell Pablo Posted 10 April 2013 Posted 10 April 2013 I got banned for calling you a naughty word, so in many ways (well in one way) that's all your fault! That's just bollocks anyway, I must have called upwards of 100 people on here a four letter in the past 8 years and never got so much as a warning.
Tempwan Yierban Posted 10 April 2013 Posted 10 April 2013 You were doing so fine with your original account until you decided to "call it quits". Best damn account/poster that's ever been on here.

I got a 'temporary' ban (of one year). I know that still is temporary, but when you can just make another account, well, its not like I didn't have form for it. This one will get banned soon enough. I'm hardly treading on eggshells. Fortunately there are 10 more email accounts ready and waiting and ideas for 100+ usernames. The next time you see a discussion thread with 10 participants, it could be just me talking to myself. Imagine that.

Tempwan Yierban Posted 10 April 2013 Posted 10 April 2013 Lenient. Mark could just ban all your IP's if he wanted I sense this option has been explored.
Manwell Pablo Posted 10 April 2013 Posted 10 April 2013 Lenient. Mark could just ban all your IP's if he wanted how is it, unless he's been banned for other reasons than the one he is claiming it's ridiculous.
Tempwan Yierban Posted 10 April 2013 Posted 10 April 2013 how is it, unless he's been banned for other reasons than the one he is claiming it's ridiculous. I don't know why I was banned, but that's the only rule I broke. Also, no explanation. I think it must have been that. Its very easy to register a new account though.
Babylon Posted 10 April 2013 Posted 10 April 2013 how is it, unless he's been banned for other reasons than the one he is claiming it's ridiculous. It was a joke!!! I don't know all the reasons, multiple I'm guessing judging by all of the accounts he has... which in itself can get a permanent ban.
Tempwan Yierban Posted 10 April 2013 Posted 10 April 2013 The cage fighting thing reminded me of a game I invented. It was essentially top trumps but each animal (in this case) had three sets of stats. One for air, one for water, one for land. Not only did each player have their card with these stats but a die would be rolled to dictate whether the 'fight' take place in air, water, on land or whether a furious game of snap (with no two cards matching) would ensue. It never took off. I lost interest when I couldn't find a willing illustrator.
Babylon Posted 10 April 2013 Posted 10 April 2013 I sense this option has been explored. Nope, I can see your IP address and it shows all your Pseudonyms. He could just block it if he wanted. Still you could get around that if you could be arsed.

If you honestly think the standard of debate and discussion on politics has improved on here over the past couple of years, I'd suggest having a lie down. Fair enough. Maybe I never saw their better moments. I do remember reading a few of daggers' more philosophical posts and well, if that's what passes for deep thought and broad-mindedness for you then fair enough. Sounded more like the ramblings of a 15-year-old after his first joint to me, but then what do I know. Maybe agrarian anarchy is a well-considered and realistic alternative afterall. And maybe the whole "blame someone else for my failure" thing that I see embedded into almost every post he makes is just a figment of my imagination.
