They have said that me and my Burgman are more than welcome because of its handsome looks and power.

’A real head-turner Col’, they said.

I did hear them whisper something about ‘better than that poser on his flash BMW’, but I could have mis-heard.

Livin la Dolce Vita. Millions of Italians can't be wrong!

Nowt wrong with a scooter, as long as it doesn't have really tiny wheels (tho I would want ABS these days). I had an original VFR750F back in the day, but it made my wrists ache after an hour of urban riding, and at that point a scooter would have been better. It is all about having the right tool for the right job, imho.

I think you are getting me confused with the sort of bellend who buys a MotoGuzzi.

Only the chosen are elevated to that plane.

Yep spot on.

I use my 650 Burgman for everything. Commuting, shopping, going into Town, having a blast when I fancy it. It’ll tour too.

The luggage enables me to do this and the twist and go is so easy for town work.

I’d defy anyone to get a better all rounder. A ‘proper’ bike, if you like, as opposed to chumps like swanlesta who gets his bike out about four times a year, when it’s not raining and poses in his full leathers with matching helmet.

lol

That good news as I cannot always make games due to Saturday morning footy with my boys, least I can blast up from Surrey and park at the ground rather than parking at my mums and missing half of the the first half.

You've got me there - you have by far the better option by those criteria as you can look like an executive pizza man all year round lol

And Col, you lost the right to talk about 'proper bikes' when firstly you bought a scooter and secondly thought it might be faster than a litre sports bike built for the track.

Don't worry, the salt will be off the roads soon and we can go out for a ride - we should go to a bike meet somewhere?

Can they be adapted to look like a proper bike?

That is a bit of a monster actually. You see more of that kind of thing in Europe. It's a super-scooter really. Nice.

I suppose I'm lucky - no one cares enough to hate Suzukis for any reason :)

BTW - If someone rides, whatever they ride, then they are good by me !!

Actually, I bought a Piaggio X-9 250 last August to use for work.  It is absolutely massive, I didn't realise how big until I tried to get it into the garage.  I can't get on with it though.  Slow control is a pain as I miss a clutch and either end up dropping into corners or over-shooting.

Up for sale soon at £1200 if anyone is interested?  Might replace with a Royal Enfield Himalayan for the commute.

Says the guy who bought a guzzi ?

No I didn’t. I bought two.

And they only went on the back of a recovery truck three times.

And each time the driver said to me, “Could be worse, you could own a BMW.” True story. ?

If you really wanted to kick me in the nads then you ought to have gone for the "And how long were they back at the dealers for?" line.

Stupid bloody Guzzis.

Anyway, never had an issue parking the bikes at any ground. Ride up to any car park with the visor slightly open, grumble summut like 'alright, mate', and carry on riding in without stopping. Chain it to something solid or expensive. Always used to chain my bikes up to the bike racks at home games.
