WeAreGoingUp Posted 27 April 2013 Share Posted 27 April 2013 due to me and my mate both getting a season ticket next season, we plan to go to 8 away games so we can become priority 2 for the next season. can you please answer me these questions because my parents seem to be think that it is full of thugs and isnt safe for a 15 / 16 year old. 1. Do they always drop you off next to the away end? 2. How long do they wait for you after the game before departing? 3. Is it safe? 4. Do you have your own specific bus or can you get any of the coaches going and coming back? 5. would you let a 15 year old travel on it and if yes what is the furthest distance e.g Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest thanks. p.s please move to the travel topic
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 27 April 2013 Share Posted 27 April 2013 Drops you off where the bus park is for away grounds. Depends on the fixture, like Brighton away it took 20 minutes to set off due to Brighton buses leaving first. Never been on FT though, but yeah it's safe, and aparently boring, If you're ever on Coach 1, sit at the front, a woman there loves company, and loves you standing up. On FT you have a ticket for what coach you are on

WeAreGoingUp Posted 27 April 2013 Author Share Posted 27 April 2013 Get the train, way more fun if you're that age. mum reckons fox travel alone isnt suitable, thats why i came on here to prove it is.... she thinks im 4 years old
z-layrex Posted 27 April 2013 Share Posted 27 April 2013 I would say it isnt suitable for 15/16 year old children to be going to away days on their own. Your mum's a smart woman.
LCFC FOX Posted 27 April 2013 Share Posted 27 April 2013 Why would it not be safe? Its the safest way as it drops you off just out side the away end and the coach waits until everyone is back on the coach before leaving. Also get 1 stop off at a service station with all the other Blue army supporters. I went when I was 15. I'm 17 now
fleckneymike Posted 27 April 2013 Share Posted 27 April 2013 The whiff of piss aside Fox Travel is perfectly safe. Only two types go on Fox Travel. 1. Those made to by their mums. 2. Those made to go with their mums.
Hugo Sanchez Posted 27 April 2013 Share Posted 27 April 2013 Foxes Travel is proper naughty. I wouldn't like to travel with them. Open drug use, mindless swearing, drinking games non stop, always get there early for a meet with the locals and just yobbish behaviour in all honesty. Try the supporters club ran by everyone's favourite city fan Cliff and his lovely wife. She might even let you sit on her knee. Hope this has been helpful. Lobsterboyuk Posted 27 April 2013 Share Posted 27 April 2013 Used it 9 times this season for taking me and my nine year old son to away matches. Can't be arsed to drive/park and don't mind not getting hammered with the little 'un in tow (Strict no alcohol policy). Perfectly safe and therefore very boring way of travelling. Biggest drama of the season was when the windscreen wipers failed going to the burnley match Seems to be a fair number of unsupervised teens travelling so it seems a good number of parents are quite happy. When my lad is older, I'd be happy for him to travel by himself. Each coach has a couple of stewards, you'll have to give them your details if you'e underage and though I haven't seen any problems I get the feeling it is a zero tolerance for bad behaviour. Don't be late getting back on the coach, if it's a police escort away from the ground, when they're ready, the coaches go, whether you're onboard or not... LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 27 April 2013 Share Posted 27 April 2013 Fox Travel is safe, yet expensive. Best to use supporters buses if you live near one
promised land Posted 27 April 2013 Share Posted 27 April 2013 due to me and my mate both getting a season ticket next season, we plan to go to 8 away games so we can become priority 2 for the next season. can you please answer me these questions because my parents seem to be think that it is full of thugs and isnt safe for a 15 / 16 year old. 1. Do they always drop you off next to the away end? 2. How long do they wait for you after the game before departing? 3. Is it safe? 4. Do you have your own specific bus or can you get any of the coaches going and coming back? 5. would you let a 15 year old travel on it and if yes what is the furthest distance e.g Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest 1. they usually drop off near the away end, the times they don't are when they're in a large car park, think London Road, Keepmoat etc. Perfectly safe, loads of stewards about and 4-8 coaches of City fans all walking one way. If you want to always be right next to the turnstiles ask to travel on coach 3, this is the wheelchair coach so will always pull right upto the gates. 2. they do a head count and won't go until you're all on, but generally the local plod want them away and back on the motorway ASAP. Once or twice you'll be rooted to the spot for a good half hour, Bristol City and Norwich spring to mind. 3.Very safe, they used to go around and make a list of all under 18's travelling putting their mobile numbers on and that of their parents just in case anything happens, this hasn't been done this season as far as I know but lots of under 18's travel on them on their own. After a few trips you'll get to know the stewards and they'll recognise you. 4.When you book your away ticket you'll get a fox travel ticket with your coach number on, no seat reservation so you sit where you want but same seat there and back, my advice would be always make sure you board the coach an hour before they leave, roll up at the last minute and you'll be seated separately as they'll only have single seats left. Get on, get your names ticked off the list, throw your bags on a seat and go and have a coffee, burger, mooch around the shop until they leave. 5.Yes I would, if your parents are concerned give your number and your parents to the stewards and tell them you're only 15, see number 3 reply. I have used them for most aways for 4 or so seasons now, can't fault them for value. they're not to every ones taste but I find them ok and cheaper than train and a walk to the ground. Steer clear of coach 1 if at all possible, very clicky coach and they all have their own seats even though its unreserved as per ticket. Basically if you buy your tickets on the same day every time you'll most likely end up on the same coach each away game, you'll see the same regular faces and the stewards normally do the same coaches each game. No banging on windows at the grounds and no booze on board, the stewards are there to ensure you arrive safely there and back and to serve drinks, crisps etc on route, they stop on the way at a service station 30-45 minutes, coming back they don't but all coaches have a bog on board but you would need to be desperate to use it. They have been selling out a lot more this season as they have changed how they run it, ie they won't put on another coach until they can fill it as a half empty coach isn't profitable so always book it when you buy your away ticket. ETA. Perfectly safe, no thugs on board, some end up with more kids than adults sometimes. Also when at the services if you like Maccy D's, KFC's etc get off quickly as the queues are stupidly long when you go in as all the young City fans get drawn to these like magnets, no hot food back on the coach so if you're late getting served you'll be wolfing it down standing outside of the coach. The big trips are the worse, Chelsea in the FA cup 20 coaches stopped at one service station, the other 20 at another, a nightmare inside so a quick walk over the bridge to the service station on the other side and bingo. Quick service. A little tip for you!
