lavrentis Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 I'm going out on a limb here and saying you haven't actually listened to the interview, and are just regurgitating Nigel's official line on the issue. Here's your dear leader's description of a protest set up to say, in the words of its organiser, "immigrants are welcome in Scotland, but Mr Farage and his type with his type of politics are not": "It was a demonstration dressed up as being anti-racism, but in fact in itself was deeply racist with a total hatred of the English and a desire for Scotland to be independent from Westminster". "They wanted the Union Jack burned". I listened to that interview and it was clear to see the bias which is why he hung up. It has been going on with the BBC for years with UKIP. Normally he manages to make it work for UKIP but at that time I don't think he really wanted it, Not sure what you are getting at with the last paragraph?

The fact that he lives in his own little world and draws entirely erroneous conclusions to what's going on around him. Even when it's blatantly obvious to everyone else apart from his lackeys who hang on his every word. All the reporter did was ask questions which cut to the core of his policies and his viewpoints which, shock horror, is exactly what interviewers are supposed to do. I've seen the likes of Paxman give much more brutal interviews to politicians, so the fact that Nigel couldn't even handle that relatively mild one speaks volumes about his suitability as a politician.

Are you kidding !?!? Are you suggesting UKIP have had an easy ride with the press. It is only RT admittedly that are leaning on pro-UKIP. I can give you countless examples of the BBC doing interview with UKIP who go back on the same old rhetoric when Farage wants to talk about his politics. Sky are starting to be fair with them at least, especially Murnaghan but the BBC always seem to be especially harsh, compared to other parties.
bovril Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 Someone should point out to Nige that the English aren't a race, but then I don't think logic or nuance have ever been his thing.

At the end of the day, you believe that the perfectly unremarkable interview technique above was massively biased and that Nigel was right to twist his knickers and hang up. Therefore I don't see myself being able to convince you that in political debate shows and interviews UKIP are not treated any differently and only stand out because of the idiot answering the questions, not vice versa.
Webbo Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 Someone should point out to Nige that the English aren't a race, but then I don't think logic or nuance have ever been his thing. What's that supposed to mean? Does that make it okay to hate someone because they are English?
Carl the Llama Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 What's that supposed to mean? Does that make it okay to hate someone because they are English? No, but that's not what the protest was about so it's an irrelevant point anyway.
bovril Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 What's that supposed to mean? Does that make it okay to hate someone because they are English? No. He accused the protesters of anti-English racism, which means he either has a pretty loose grip of reality or is just shouting at random "isms" at people who disagree with him.
