I'll be voting Lib Dem, never known a bad lib dem councillor i'm sure they exist. I suppose most people will be voting based on party politics, i always feel sorry for local councillors who end up losing elections due to perceived wrongdoings by their party at national level. Would never vote labour, never known anywhere labour that wasn't a complete shithole. Tories are actually generally ok.

Looks pretty bad to me

Completely undecided, as nobody tells you what they stand for in council elections, they wrongly rely on people voting as they would had it been a general election. For example, I wouldn't be caught dead voting for the Westminster Liberal Democrats right now, but they are still worth considering at a local level. A Labour vote would be a good mid-term indicator, but not in the spirit of the election, and having lived in Leicester's Castle Ward and quizzed my candidates previously, I'm not convinced Labour councillors have the best priorities in mind while spending money.

I'll probably end up voting Lib Dem, I'd consider the Greens if they have a candidate, but I know that'd be a wasted vote.

I haven't actually received a polling card anyway, so I'm going to have to check my eligibility tomorrow.

Just a general question - Are the figures on spoilt ballots kept or are they simply discounted? i.e. would they just report a lower turnout if a significant number of people spoiled their ballots?

It's not about not being arsed is it, thats just a blinkered high and mighty way of looking at things, on the contrary I believe if you go out and vote for party based on their principles and they go back on them after being elected you should be held accountable for being so gullible and have no right to question the people you put in power.

How so?

I really don't understand that - how can it possibly be me who should be held accountable if someone else breaks a promise?

Thankfully I'm not legible to vote in the UK anymore so I don't need to worry about distinguishing between a shit and a turd.

Are you eligable to vote in belgium where they can barely establish a government?

You willingly put them there and believed every word they said.

It's probably a bit of an over the top statement I just get wound up when people don't respect the right not to vote as a choice of action taken against the current system and just view it as lazy.

I'm sure I could register, yes, but everything's so peachy without a properly established government.

Given Ken Clarke is absolutley right about UKIP, I imagine a load of idiots being added to councils across the country is inevitable as people decide to use the one vote they have that might actually affect the practicalities of their day to day life as a protest. Crazy. You should elect local councillors based on what they bring. I will be voting Tory as the candidate is a local businessman who bothered to come and talk to me, and becuase he will have more influence in the Tory led council. Lib dems keep putting up candidates with wierd backgrounds in socal care or something. Labour dont bother with a serious candidate. No idea about UKIP.

This is the point i was trying to make aswell. If people want to get involved with politics then this is the level to do it at. I wouldn't trust the fringe parties unless you know your local candidate and actually think they would make a good councillor. If anything then this is the election you should vote in, save the protest vote for the general election if that's how you feel.

I'm a pink fluffy lefty git so I will be voting labour even though they haven't got a chance in the Tory homeland I live in.

My UKIP councillor is a defector from the Tories so I'm happy with him.

Ken Clarke and his ilk represent everything that is wrong with the political class in the country anyway, the fact they all seem to think that they and them only are the only ones worthy enough to rule and anyone who dare think any different is a loony or a fruitcake. Considering he wants Europe to make our laws, european judges to decide who we can and can't deport, would have taken us into the Euro that would have us ten times worse off then we are now and was so passionate about a Euro Superstate he couldnt even be bothered to read the Maastrict Treaty? What a Tory that is.

The Protest vote' in this country is only going to get bigger and bigger.

For comments like Ken's to come out and the leaflet scandals we have seen, Big Nige clearly has the Tories worried.

Ken Clarke is so pro-EU though so it is expected he is anti UKIP.

He's ridiculously pro EU for a so called Conservative, in all honesty is probably cost his the party's leadership at some point in the last 20 years.

Bastards, ever thought of moving to your local Labour area to enjoy the perks?

Whack on a suit and head for the nearest council estate, pretend to be a debt collector and you'll pick up a few blowjobs.

I can't even find my voting card lol

You don't need it, just go down to the polling station and tell them your name and address.

And yet you can't even be bothered to let us gullible ****wits know just how stratospherically stupid we are by scribbling "none of the above" or whatever on a bit of paper?

I respect your right not to vote but I think it's irresponsible. What exactly are you trying to prove?
