Leicesterpool Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 For all you Dr Who fans, once again a new timelord is needed to control the tardis. Matt Smith only did three years in tardis! which for me isn't much, but any typical actor always worry about typecast. So who do people want to play the doctor? Myself I'd like to see maybe Rik Mayall, Neil Morrissey or either Alex Walkinshaw takeover.
Jimothy Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 I have to confess to being a fan, which seeing as you are too disturbs me a little, would hate to be seen as similar to you. Anyway I find your choices extremely odd. Rik Mayall? Neil Morrissey? It's 2013 mate not 1995! It'll be a relatively unknown actor just like Matt Smith was and to a degree David Tennant was. I guarantee you'll probably not have heard of him, you might recognise him having seen him in something but he won't be huge star, just a good actor. All the paper talk about Benedict Cumberbatch, or Idris Elba is bollocks.
daddylonglegs Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Benedict Cumberbatch would be absolutely brilliant. Sherlock is one of the best bits of TV I've seen and its largely due to his acting.
rico Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Would like to see Joe Gilgun or Toby Kebbell as the Doctor,Russell Tovey might be in with a shout
Leicesterpool Posted 2 June 2013 Author Posted 2 June 2013 Benedict Cumberbatch would be good in the tardis, but it would never happen he's a to big of a star!
The Doctor Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Hello... I'd love it to be Cumberbatch but it's not going to happen - hollywood and his commitments to Sherlock means he wouldn't really have time to be the doctor as well.

Rincewind Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 I was confused with the ending of the last episode. Didn';'t they reveal the Doctor's name and I thought they were hinting at the new one. John Hurt? IIt may depend at what sort of role and kind of doctor. An energetic would mean a youngish one of cours. What direction is the character going? How much more is there to know about him? I know it has to be up to date but I always think of the Doctor just as an alien Time traveler that landed on Earth by accident. I remember when there was over 20 locks to the door and the key could only fit in in a certain position and that he could not preset the controls. But I suppose to those new toi it would not be bothered about that and view the modern Doctor as new.
Leicesterpool Posted 2 June 2013 Author Posted 2 June 2013 Rory Kinnear is the bookies favourite, if you don't know him he played Tanner in James Bond. From what i've seen of him, he never comes across to me as a sort of heroic doctor, i'm not saying it's a bad shout but just not for me. I've heard other gossip in the past that Stephen Moffat is wanting to take the show back to it's roots by hiring an older actor, John Hurt i think is just a one off for the 50th anniversary special and i think he suppose to be the doctor for the time war. For me the doctor needs to between the age of 40-to maybe early 50's.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 I know there's talk of why should the Doctor be white all the time, so there talk of Idris Elba and what not, but how about Jackie Chan? And why speaking English, why male? We could have Noomi Rapace as the Doctor or Asha Negi. Heck, why even human? Sorted!
Leicesterpool Posted 2 June 2013 Author Posted 2 June 2013 If we did have female doctor would the companion have to be male?
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 If they put a female in the role it would be the death of the show. Political correctness bollocks. Unless she is a good looking lezza who wants to have a passionate affair with the current Doctors assistant then it would be ok obviously...

Trav Le Bleu Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Recent report in The Metro. Would be a good choice I reckon. Stephen Mangan

Rincewind Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Roy Kinnear? The only Roy Kinear I've heard of is a comedian from years back and I thought he had died. 1934-1988
Guest Bilo Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 I'll do it for a hand job per episode from Jenna Louise Coleman.
