Jimothy Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Don't watch it, but seeing this geezer in the role would arouse my interest... Was big rumours it would be him before Matt Smith was chosen.
Corky Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 For all you Dr Who fans, once again a new timelord is needed to control the tardis. Matt Smith only did three years in tardis! which for me isn't much, but any typical actor always worry about typecast. So who do people want to play the doctor? Myself I'd like to see maybe Rik Mayall, Neil Morrissey or either Alex Walkinshaw takeover. I reckon they might go for that bloke out of One Foot In The Grave,
Leicesterpool Posted 2 June 2013 Author Posted 2 June 2013 I reckon they might go for that bloke out of One Foot In The Grave, Richard Wilson been in doctor who before, he played a doctor in that.
Kitchandro Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 I'm disappointed that this Leicesterpool thread is without a poll.
SystonFox Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Tom Hiddlestone would be a good one but he's far too famous to do it. Also seen Gerard Butlers name thrown about??? not a chance. Mangan is a half decent panel show guest but no more than that. Russel Tovey is a talented actor but he has been in doctor who before as another character. i know this isn't as issue as his assistant Martha Jones? (the coloured one!) used to play another character before too

(the coloured one!) used to play another character before too As did Eve Myles, Jenna-Louise Coleman (sort of, but that was obviously deliberate), and Bernard Cribbins I fully expect it to be someone we will need to Google to find out who the hell they are, but out of the names mentioned it would have to be Tovey for me. Although Cumberbatch would be decent, it would mean the end of Sherlock which is without doubt, the best thing to come out of the BBC in my lifetime.

Moffat is head writer for both, so they wouldn't be going on at the same time.
Guest Posted 3 June 2013 Posted 3 June 2013 and it seems that the filming of Sherlock is very flexible timewise. Look how we've had to wait this year for it to be fitted in to everyone's schedule.

Charl91 Posted 3 June 2013 Posted 3 June 2013 I've given in caring. I only really enjoyed the first 2, maybe 3 seasons to be honest (Eccleston was the best doctor by far, though helps he had better writing/stories). I half-heartedly watched the season before this one and barely watched any of this one (probably 4 or 5 episodes). It seems to be more like something I'd expect on CBBC now.

rico Posted 3 June 2013 Posted 3 June 2013 Tom Baker was the best. Jon Pertwee & Tom Baker were my favourites
The Doctor Posted 3 June 2013 Posted 3 June 2013 Is it not john hurt then? Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2 No - Hurt is the 9th incarnation of the time lord known as the doctor, but isn't (and has never actually been) the doctor, because he betrayed the name Doctor.
Legend_in_blue Posted 3 June 2013 Posted 3 June 2013 The more important job is getting the right script maker in. Russell T Davies was excellent. Since he left, unfortunately for Matt Smith, the stories have taken an absolute nose dive. I don't think Matt Smith has been bad at all, but the material has been awful. Bring back Russell T Davies and it won't matter who plays the doctor.
Leicesterpool Posted 3 June 2013 Author Posted 3 June 2013 Gemma Arterton is being linked to the role, blimey she's hot as hell! Playing the doctor erm...
