Parafox Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 From LM today “Does Leicester City Council spend public money in the right areas of Leicester? All we hear about is the City's Mayor wanting a better Leicester but his team and him seem keen on projects the people of Leicester have no control over. Should his ideas be put to a public vote as it is our money which is being spent?†I bet none on here have much to say about this!.

One walk through the centre of the town centre would lead me to say no considering apart from the High Cross how filthy it is. But I'll leave it to the people who have the misfortune to live there to answer it.
Harry - LCFC Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 Don't know enough about what they spend on to give a good answer. Could you give me a bit of detail?
Captain... Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 I think the amount of money spent to make the train station harder to use was pretty criminal, but as a non resident it is hard to say. I think what they are trying to do with the cultural quarter has value and high cross is as good as most equivalents in the UK but there are some shitty areas too. I don't think we should necessarily vote on all big decisions but I think there should be more visibility on what money is being spent on and serious objections listened to and not brushed under the carpet.
Finnegan Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 The fact we cut more services than director's wages would suggest no.
Webbo Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 We're getting rid of the big TV in town as well which I always quite liked. I'd have thought they could have moved it to a park somewhere so we could see Glastonbury or the proms on it. Seems such a waste to remove it altogether.

I don't think we actually owned that big TV, I seem to remember it was from sponsorship or some kind of deal.

Rincewind Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 Once you hand it over (taken off you) the money is no longer yours.
