separator Posted 24 June 2013 Posted 24 June 2013 I used to work as a service engineer back in the late 90's and worked a few days at an armament factory up north somewhere. Anyway I managed to get hold of a small part of a bomb, just a machined metal component, nothing dangerous, but that served as a useful book end on my shelf for years. There are a load of old army vehicles parked next to Market Harborough train station at the moment, mostly trucks and the odd green goddess. No idea if there for sale.
Deucalion Posted 24 June 2013 Author Posted 24 June 2013 What you got Matt ??? They were selling WWI German helmets btw.
Guest MattP Posted 25 June 2013 Posted 25 June 2013 What you got Matt ??? They were selling WWI German helmets btw. A few things I procured as a teenager. Got a Marine Core Cartridge belt from the First World War and used to have a pocket watch that I can't find anymore. It's around the house somewhere. WW2 I've Got a belt from a Wehrmacht soldier and a Third Reich Wound Badge.

Not sure if it's something to do with the bloke who restores traction engines and things like that. There's a yard next to the line at Little Bowden, remember my grandad taking me there to see it when I was little.

I have a couple of interesting WWII things. I have a field telephone and morse set in a metal case, complete with strap. It is marked with the date 1944 and in really good nick. It might be worth a few bob. I also have a motorcycle lamp with adjustable blackout masking. In fact, here's a pic I just found. I don't know if mine is Canadian but it is exactly the same as this.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 25 June 2013 Posted 25 June 2013 A farm round the corner from me used to have a couple of scout vehicles and a tank hidden in the scrub which you could spot from the road in winter when the trees were bare.

21st Century Fox Posted 26 June 2013 Posted 26 June 2013 I remember going to an antiques fair a few years ago and ended up buying a pretty large Gurkha Kukri. I also had to be talked down from buying a harpoon gun... I really, really wanted that harpoon gun.
