Vale Blue Posted 29 July 2013 Author Posted 29 July 2013 Nugents movement makes him a more dangerous player and he fits into our system and style of his team mates better than Wood. Thing is with Wood he's a one trick pony, its long ball up to him which doesn't suit the rest of our team. Personally I think Wood will have an average season as there were signs that other teams had worked him out.
MooseBreath Posted 29 July 2013 Posted 29 July 2013 Forest have pulled out of deals for both Morgan and Nugent. For Morgan Leicester just said not for sale. For Nuge we wanted £1m upfront which Forest would have paid, be we also wanted another million in potential add ons relating to goals scored and promotion. Forest aren't down with that so have pulled out

Babylon Posted 29 July 2013 Posted 29 July 2013 I actually think one of our problems is that nugent isn't prolific enough. Ok he scores an average amount of goals and that's why we are an average team ATM. Wood is a better goalscorer, and I think Schlupp would score 15 goals if he started 50 games like Nugent has the past 2 seasons. Problem with nugent is, doesn't matter how badly he plays Pearson will always start him the next game. There are only 5 players left in the league who scored more than Nuge last year, and one of them is Wood. Cardiff and Hull got promoted without even having a player in the top scorers list! I think goals from other areas of the pitch are a bigger problem than those from our strikers.
Jace Posted 29 July 2013 Posted 29 July 2013 I honestly think if Nugent and Wood stay fit this season we really are going to be 1 of the most dangerous teams going forward this year. I certainly don't think we have got worse we will only improve this season judging by the age of our team

I certainly don't think we have got worse we will only improve this season judging by the age of our team IF we try and get players within 30 metres of them.

We actually scored quite a lot of goals last season! It's just we were flat track bullies in half a dozen games and mulelred teams, yet in long periods we struggled for goals. Not sure if that's a personnel problem or tactical?

Bit of both, young players being inconsistent and the management not coaching them how to break down stubborn teams.
Ric Flair Posted 29 July 2013 Posted 29 July 2013 Bit of both, young players being inconsistent and the management not coaching them how to break down stubborn teams. Also it was away from home we were diabolical at scoring and picking up wins. That must change.
Rob1742 Posted 31 July 2013 Posted 31 July 2013 Konchesky, Danns, Gallagher - add Nugent to the list. These would be sold like a shot, these being the high earners that are strangling the club financially.
