Rumours about Nuge to Forest

You want us to rely on Waghorn, Vardy, Hopper, Panayiotou & Blyth, three of which have hardly any league experience.

And two in Waghorn & Vardy who are often scapegoats, and have proved that sometimes they can be absolutely shit.

No thanks, we need to keep hold of our best assets, and Nugent is one of them, especially if we sold him to a rival, they would be absolutely laughing.

Totally agree.

Bar 2/3 games for us Wood has been gash, at least when Nugent isn't scoring he's working hard and creating chances for others.

A lot of people were saying sell Kasper because he can leave for free at the end of the season. Nugent is out of contract at the end of the season and it's very unlikely that he is going to sign a new 1 (mainly because we won't pay him as much again as he's on now). Sell him and get money for him to help strengthen the squad. I'm prepared to keep Kasper and risk him leaving for free because he's an international standard GK that is difficult to replace, Nugent is just a good standard Championship striker.

Sell Nugent and lose our main goal scorer and bring in two new players who won't even be any better than what we currently have because the most we could spend on each of them would be a bout 800k if that, it just doesn't make sense.

You do know it was me, who wrote that post don't you?

Forest trying to unsettle us? Enquiring about the spine of our team this summer- Morgan, king, nugent!! Chances of them bidding for kasper?

It appears to me Forest are well aware we need to offload a few of the higher earners and are testing the waters to see who could be available for what price. Would like to see Nugent and Wood upfront next season I think if they are fit they could be a very desired partnership at Championship level this season.

lol

You do talk sense sometimes fella.

You feeling alright today

Cheers anyway, will look out for my next compliment from you, by this time next year.

I'd be amazed if we sold Nugent, but had a suspicion yesterday that this might happen due to him not being included in the squad. For those saying he is replaceable, please suggest who we could realistically sign who would score the same number of goals, be affordable and join on a lower wage. Whilst I'm glad we kept Schmeichel, if we had lost him I think we could have found adequate cover relatively easily. Unfortunately I don't think the same applies to Nugent.

Nugent will get you 16 goals a season cut that out and we are looking  even more toothless upfront where are we going to replace those 16 goals?, because Vardy and Waghorn won't score that bloody amount.

between them!

Nugent certainly does not offer little without goals. He works hard, he's a good all round player, he can pick it up from deep, he can pass, he can hold it up.

Kasper on the other hand can only influence what's going on in his own box. His kicking is poor so it's not like you can say that's an asset. Yes he has made some superb saves and I'm very glad he's our keeper but even in those games like Middlesbrough where one of his saves was actually a match winner, we still needed to actually get a goal to win (which in that game was scored by Nugent). When he pulls off a miraculous save we still need to score to win but if we score he doesn't necessarily have to do anything special for us to win.

That is why his influence is limited. He can only save goals, he can't make them or score them.

Let me ask you who are we going to replace Nugent with? Baring in mind we won't be able to spend £1 million just because we sell him for that much - you do realise we need the money to reduce the debt and losses, don't you?

i have to disagree a keeper can see the whole pitch 100% of the time, he can see where the mistakes are being made and communicates with the defence, the keeper is the backbone to any team. maybe we could sign ricardo again

Pure speculation why not just keep Kasper and nuge and stick with the squad we've got ? Why risk losing a good player and get another in who could be rubbish for us. Kasper and nuge are tried and tested for us. The squad in the current state im happy with.

As I put on another thread.

Why not sell Konchesky, Toffee or Bert said teams have enquired about him. It makes sense, because he doesn't bring much to the side, unlike Kasper, Morgan & Nugent. We have Bakayogo, Schlupp & Dyer who are all capable of playing LWB. He is surely on high wages himself, sell him then it will free us up, so we can get in a new centre back and maybe a new centre mid. Then if we still can't sell Danns & Gallagher loan them out, then by the end of the season, their contracts will be up, so we can release them.

That would be a better situation.

Personally I'd sell Nugent if the price was £1 million or over. Don't get me wrong he's a good player but we could do with shoring up other areas of the squad and I think we could honestly do without him especially if we can get some of the Development squad experience, he went something like 16 games without a goal last season. Wood/Waghorn/Vardy/Hopper/Blyth.

this makes me laugh. first of blythe has little experience and nuge scored 16 last season blythe scored 17 while he was at leamington.

vardy scored shit loads in non league for fleetwood but i dont think he has 16 goals a season at this level.

hopper scored 3 goals for bury last season a league below us.

wood i cant argue with you on that hope he gets 20 this year.

waghorn has a huge 22 goals in 129 apperances 8 ahead of what nugent scored 16 last season in 42 games

sell nugent and you might aswell sell kasper, morgan and knocky and just get cheap league 1/ develpment squad players, where are you going to get a cheap 16 goal a season championship[ striker on low wages? NOWHERE

If the decision is Nigel's I suggest he would keep him, it's a shxt or bust season for Pearson as he is out of contract at the end of it, and I don't think at this late stage he is gonna replace nugents 16 or so goals.

At the end of the day we got nugent on a free so nothing to lose having his experience around and let his contract run down.

Got a feeling if we don't go up there will be a mass queue for the exit door anyway, with so many contracts due to expire at the end of this season.

I would be a bit gutted if Nuge left, he's one of our top 4/5 players and he's a great character. I reckon he boosts morale in the dressing room and hopefully will bag at least 15 this season

We would only sell if there was a better replacement waiting to join.

But there isn't, and we'd only weaken our squad whilst strengthening another team.

What so an unproven player and 2 players who aren't even LBs?

Dyer has been LB once and was predictably gash, Schlupp is very dodgy there too.

Sell him all day long for anything around £1million or above. We could easily bring in a better replacement for that money or we could even just finally give Schlupp a proper run up top with Wood as lets be honest, it seems NP isn't keen on using Schlupp at LB.

I know what he means though, we should be looking to replace Konchesky and ship him off now. He's getting slower every year and struggled last season. If we play with wing backs Schlupp will be better suited to that role, and I hope Bakayogo can step up to the plate.

There's no point having 3 players in one position so something needs to change.

Schlupp has played LB a few times and is very hit and miss. I remember him having a few decent games there but then also having a game where he almost cost us 2 goals, and then getting raped at Watford in the play offs. He hasn't got the positional sense or tackling ability to succeed at LB imo. If we play him there then prepare to concede a lot.
