Voll Blau Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 Kevin obviously didn't get any last night then. Of course he didn't, daffodils are out of season.
Guest Bilo Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 Just gonna say Barclays doesn't run the match day safety anymore. A woman called viki does, and damn she's fit. I might flash her a bit of Bilo charm next time I'm around. Standing areas for everybody!
Raj Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 Most of the "Ard" kids would shit themselves if away fans came at them and there were no stewards around!
Guest Bilo Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 I doubt the stewards would do much to be honest, public order on that scale is dealt with by the police.
Weller in Tights Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 A small group of us moved from the L block to the back of N block a few years ago (sick of the bloody drum). We had a couple of seasons hassle for standing. Our argument was always that as we were on the back row we weren't obstructing anyone's view etc. for the last couple of seasons and until yesterday, they haven't really bothered with us and so the numbers standing have increased. Yesterday it must have been around 100-120 that stood for the whole match. The atmosphere is consequently getting better in that area and the rest of the family stand more readily join in. With a loud L block and N block then the 'atmosphere' people crave for will only get closer.

I love to see them try and get over the segregation to be honest. Get the stewards to whack a little bit of fairy liquid and some water on there, be better entertainment than the football!

Too right!..Like the ard ones in L1 who were giving Leeds fans some shit years ago about Istanbul...When The Lids fans came at them there were pools of pis everywhere!!!
Guest Bilo Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 NO cops there yday though was there? Yesterday being the exception of course. Don't get me wrong; I respect the jobs the stewards do for not a lot of money, but their job is made harder for them by rigid adherence to the ground regs rather than leniency and common sense.

Im sure most of us do jobs in which we HAVE to do certain things even though we know they are stupid?....Tis alot of H&S and all that crap!!

I'm 4 rows from the top but will move if the people behind me start sitting down. Luckily they didn't yesterday
Lobsterboyuk Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 I'm not surprised this happened, I imagine the club don't want this kind of support in amongst the "family" match experience. Next will be the persistent standing warning letters taped to seats or even outright cancelling of season tickets. Can't see any other outcome myself. Shame because the N1 boys sounded loud over in K. Coulld've been the start of something helpful for the KP atmosphere...
smudger63 Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 If they're trying to clamp down on standing in what is technically the Family Stand I imagine it won't be the last time this happens for you all. Given how over zealous the H&S can be (just look at how they handled the Fosse Boys situation) I've always been surprised they've let a section stand there. If they didn't want it to happen they should really have clamped down right at the beginning before a few people became a lot more people. EDIT: Of course it could just have been a one off by a jobsworth. Which is exactly what they done to the Fosse Boys in SK 1. They didn`t want another L1 situation starting up in the Kop, with a large group of fans standing, and them not being able to do anything to stop it, due to the weight of numbers they were dealing with. The Kop get a lot of stick on here for not adding to the atmosphere, but that is because the fans want to sing are spread around the Kop, rather than all together. There are a lot of fans who go in the Kop purely because it`s cheaper, but just don`t want to get involved in the singing. The best way to get this sorted and to get all the singers together would be to make the Kop seats unrestricted, so in other words you sit where you want. Then you will find the fans that want to sing will gravitate to the same area. You might even find fans going into the stands earlier to get their spot, and so might even help the atmosphere slowly build up before the game, in the way it used to at Filbert Street. It will never happen though, because that would almost inevitably result in another large group of fans standing for the whole game, and Kevin Barclay being left powerless to being able to stop it, and he will not want that!
ian1984summer Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 Steward ? not at all. I can't stand most of them either but respect the fact they don't make the rules, they just follow the orders they get briefed on or orders that get sent through via radio. just people doing a job. chains of command in all walks of life. I just find it daft that people get all riled with the stewards, if people have issues with the way security is ran at the ground they need to start complaining further up the ladder. IMO
Vardinhio Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 Prevention is better than a cure. Standing up en mass could cause problems, it hasn't for a while I'll give you that but there is a reason for it. If you had a daughter and some guy standing up chucked himself accidently over the front and hit her in the face then it wouldn't be funny would it? All I'm saying is it shouldn't be fans v Stewards, there is a reason why they don't want us standing.....

The reason they want people to sit at football matches is so they are easier to control.

Meltonfossefox Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 I was nearly ejected from the ground the cup semi at selhurst park for standing..I said your fvcking kidding surely...about 8000 people standing and u want me to sit....a mild wrestling match started and just about the entire row I was stood on blocked the stewards from getting to me they decided to leave it at that. Cheers if you were one of those coz it turned out to be quite a good night

Ash79 Posted 16 September 2013 Posted 16 September 2013 Don't these things cycle around at a similar point every season... I'm sure it's driven from an annual email from the FA re: ground safety etc etc... The stewards will always aim for those areas of the ground where they are likely to get less resistance thus you'll never see them in L block or the away section... Once they've fulfilled the obligation to 'try' and get people to comply the latest noise will die down.
