ScoutMan Posted 27 September 2013 Posted 27 September 2013 Reveals in his new book about his gambling addiction and that he lost £1,050,000 + £40,000 in bonuses while at City. Article http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/keith-gillespie-exclusive-gambling-addiction-2297507
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 27 September 2013 Posted 27 September 2013 That would be why he was so gash then. There was always the suspicion about the drink with him. No surprise.
lgfualol Posted 27 September 2013 Posted 27 September 2013 He lived in my village and me and my friends (about 8-10 year olds) went and knocked on his door. He was pretty cool though, got us some autographed stuff. I think I still have it somewhere.
5waller5 Posted 27 September 2013 Posted 27 September 2013 A really great player, that didn't seem to quite have his head right .... Probably the only reason we were able to get him to be fair.
Guesty Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 I remember my friend back in the day saying he'd been playing blackjack next to him and his Missus came up and to keep her quiet he gave her 2 grands worth of chips just to go away. And that Gillespie lost thousands whilst he was next to him. So I'm not at all suprised by this
Webbo Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 He lived in Queniborough, he was in William Hills in Syston most afternoons.
Guest MattP Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Legendary drinker and gambler. Saw him in the Mark Jarvis opposite the High Cross once 90 minutes before kick off and he started the match. Not as bad as Joachim who once came to to John Gregory for "tactical advice" when in fact he was telling him if his horse had won but a real geezer none the less. He'll be working in a casino by the time he's 50 but he'll have some stories to tell.
Jace Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 I still prefer the old school footballers who had addictions to gambling and women rather than these days where the additions appear to be to Twitter and Nandos
