Historical Records

Apologies if this has been mentioned.

Obviously I think both are going to be out of reach but it's mid March and if this run carries on until the end of the season we still have an outside chance of bettering two things no team in the history of English football has ever done.

Most wins in a season: 33, Doncaster Rovers (Third Division North, 1946–47; final record P42 W33 D6 L3) - NEEDED 10 wins from last 12 games.

Most points in a season (3 points for a win): 106, Reading (Championship, 2005–06) - NEEDED 30 points from last 36 avaliable.

Anyone think we could pull either of these off?, tougher fixtures with Burnley, Wigan and Reading away to come but if we could somehow sneak two wins from those three it would be on looking at the rest of what we have.

We basically need 10 wins from the remaining 12.  On this form, I can see us going close, but there's still some tricky fixtures against Burnley (A), Wigan (A), Reading (A), QPR (H) and Bolton (A).  I just think we'll miss it.  I can see us breaking 100 points though.

Edit: I should say that providing we don't get complacent against the likes of Yeovil, Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield, etc.

Not sure about either of them if I'm honest. We've got a couple of tough games in Burnley, Brighton, QPR, Blackburn and Reading.

10 wins and both of them fall. I don't think we'll go THAT far but I don't see anyone getting near it in the next few years.

I don't think we should be putting the players under extra pressure to beat records which, at the end of the day, are pretty meaningless. 10 wins from 12 at the end of a long season is asking a bit much... donchathink? Last thing we want is injuries and suspensions carrying over into next season caused by us trying to finish ahead of the Doncaster 1947 chaps.

I guess it might be nice to beat a couple of our own records though:

It's a nice run of fixtures at the moment but there are difficult matches to come - QPR and Brighton at home / Reading, Burnley and Wigan away will all be difficult and we may well lose a couple of those. Whilst promotion is in no doubt we will need a brilliant spell to break these records.
