fuchsntf Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 Schluppi will take the premiership by storm....he has pace, and individual skills will improve. So far hes been a quick learner. What position....like NP is doing lets wait and see, lets see if the young man can crack it. Pace and strength cant easily be found, other skills can be learnt.
ronnup Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 His pace alone means he'll never get outpaced as a full back, so long as he gets his positioning right against the better teams he can make that position his own. And we can coach all of that. He'll make a sensational left back
foxoffderby Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 Jeff was outstanding today. Pace, power and skill. He read the game well and attacked down the wing the complete modern full back.
foxfanazer Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 Done his job well over the past few games. Gets well forward amd won't be done for pace. Still noy completely convinced he could be a regular starter in the prem but he's giving himself a chance
CPW22 Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 He's looking good, he still needs to work on his positioning at times but left back isn't his 'natural' position. He is playing far more consistently compared to this time last year and he has time to improve.

I'm leaning towards this point of view, also. There will be some dreadful afternoons for him if he is retained as first-choice lb next season - when a Navas or someone rips him apart. But if he can continue to work at it and learn from it, I think he could have a very good career in that position.
Frank_mckenzie Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 If you back to last season schlupp played againt decent wingers in both zaha and ince, both times we kept clean sheets so he has got the ability
Happy Fox Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 Every game he has played at LB, we have won. He has potential to be a very good standard LWB.
XLM Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 If he works on his defensive game over summer I don't see why he can't make the jump. He suits our style of play so much, and when he plays it means that we literally have attacking threat when we have the ball in literally every position, bar the 2 centre backs and a holding midfielder. Good stuff.
Bluearmy 316 Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 How about asking Chris Powell to come back as a coach until he gets another managers job to train schlupp?
AdamN Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 How about asking Chris Powell to come back as a coach until he gets another managers job to train schlupp? I imagine Pearson and Konchesky will be good mentors for him. If he keeps performing then I'd love him to become our regular LB, and If he continues his string of games from now until the end of the season then it'll better prepare him for Premier League football. Nothing can beat actual game time for player development.
veezeeblue Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 he needs to learn to pick up opposing players in the box, looked lost a couple of time yesterday altough his attacking play was excellent, he fit´s in to a 3 5 1 1 formation which we should only use against weaker teams, (like yesterday) for me I am still not sure about him as an out and out LB
