Dan Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Crystal Palace 1-0 Chelsea Or on the flip side, our league leaders lost to a team struggling with relegation. How many times have Bayern/Barcelona/Real done that?

That's a good thing though. Shows that our league is more competitive and stronger all around and not just the top teams.

Manwell Pablo Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 That's a good thing though. Shows that our league is more competitive and stronger all around and not just the top teams. If your saying it's the most entertaining league in the world that's a different arguement, and one I'd probably agree wiith. Technically best, nooooooo
Dan Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Barca vs Valladolid two weeks back? That renders the previous post from POTM invalid then. Every single argument for/against each league can be worked both ways. POTM is the sort of person who would see a 7-0 in England and say it proves how strong the top sides are, and then see a 7-0 in Germany and say how it proves how weak the bottom sides are. It's hard to take points from each league and work out if it's a negative or a positive for the league in question. The only thing that really compares the strength of the leagues is European competition and English sides have been found wanting for three years now. I'm not taking Chelsea's CL win away from them as they won it fair and square but that was the ultimate 'paper over cracks'.

Fair enough having Wigan in there with our final remaining team finding its self in the hands of Tim Sherwood probably didn't help....but still.
Guest MattP Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Crystal Palace 1-0 Chelsea If you are holding up that match as proof the PL Is the strongest in the World I despair. It was dreadful. As others have said, you appear to be confusing quality with competitiveness.
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 You think that Getafe could beat Chelsea?
MC Prussian Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 You think that Getafe could beat Chelsea? At one point or another, yes. Ever heard of chance?
Guest Bilo Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Lack of language skills, average technical ability and the amount of money available in the Premier League are the main reasons.
Guest MattP Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 You think that Getafe could beat Chelsea? Possible in a one off game. Do you think Palace could beat Barcelona?
Vacamion Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Possible in a one off game. Do you think Palace could beat Barcelona? With Pulis in charge, just maybe...
Grandad. Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Incredible thread, to see a topic go off course so quickly. Loads of Englishman and Brits have played abroad, improved a fair few but unsure of some but in modern day football English and British footballers would rather stay here, probably for money. Seems washed up Brits are going abroad now for one last pay day, a young kid who can't make it in an academy in this country or you're Gareth Bale.
RonnieTodger Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 I read a report by SkySports that the Premier League has the fewest home-based players out of all the major European leagues (33% are English). How many of those don't even make the bench? Add to that, the OP's point about there being so few English players abroad and the answer is quite simple: We don't produce enough good players.
Dan Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 33% is an absolute joke and that percentage is only going to go down further.
