Guest Col city fan Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 I agree with you completely. Chuffed to bits we're promoted, loving the idea of playing the big boys on a level playing field and we deserve to be up and in the big time for the way we've played this year. But there is a lot to be enjoyed about the Championship, and a lot left to be desired in the Prem. I hate the idea that if the boot is brushed then 'that's contact, not a dive', but there's a couple of those given every week in the Prem. It's a shame that the best sides outside the top 4 are Man City reserves and Chelsea reserves, because the money is so skewed. The championship is exciting and unpredictable, with clubs that have character, and it could have been any of about 18 teams going up. Only 5 teams can compete for the PL. The Championship is a great league with a better ethos than the Prem, more likable players and, often, likable managers too. I'll miss those elements of it, but wouldn't stay down for all the balti pies in the world. We are Leicester and we are Premier League! Great post..
Istilllovefilbert Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 Its like the Shawshank Redemption with the character Red talks about being locked up for so many years you become institutionalised. I for one have had enough In my time as a city fan, I have witnessed so many promotions and relegations. Even one of each outside the top flight. Couldn't call us institutionalized. Its never dull. I've always said that I would rather be us than a club like Coventry that stayed in the top flight for years doing nothing. Just gotta roll with the good times, and enjoy the moments like now
Mr Weller Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 It's the dilemma of every club of a similar size to leicester. In truth, the best situation is to be doing well in the PL and for 5 seasons in the MON era we did exactly that. Unfortunately that is not always the case and a season at the bottom is a miserable . However, out Thii owners give us something new and we don't know how deep their pockets really are now they are going to get a return on their investment. It's not clear yet what will happen but it's exciting and just imagine if we had just missed out on the play off again. We would think we were crazy to be lamenting our departure from this league. I have a feeling this might be another golden era for the club.
Fox92 Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 I'm not going to miss it. We've waited ten years for this.
cc_star Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 I'll miss the Championship. Need to be in the top flight though, at least for a while. Wonder how many of our fans will manage going from a side who predominantly wins to a side where just a draw will often be an unbelievable result.
Matt Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 I am and i'm not. Obviously I want to see a successfull, winning team, competing at the top of the league, this hasn't always been the case in the Championship as we all know, we've had a stuggles, in recent years we have been winning games and we have been competing at the top, whether it be playoffs or winning the league, but if you are going to be winning games and competing at the top you either flop out the playoffs which is disappointment, win the playoffs and get promoted or win the league and get promoted, promotion is the aim and that means Premiership, which is fantastic, the aim, the dream, however we'll lose alot more games, hopefully we'll be successful in terms that we stay up (In our first or 2nd seasons) then look to build on a midtable finish and keep on building, perhaps win a cup on the way, bring back the old days of the 90's. Obviously I want to be in the Premiership but like the subject of this thread, I will look back with abit of sadness leaving the Championship, it's a huge chunk of our history, highs and lows, but lets look the a hopefully long and successful future in the Premiership. And a long a successful future with this man!
North East Fox Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 Not going to miss this league one bit. In the MON era we went in to every game in the PL believing we could win - just hope Nige can build a team to replicate that. I'm confident he'll do that and can't see us suffering hammerings week in / week out. One question I was thinking about this week is - if someone offered you a guaranteed x amount of years in the PL, what would you take (as essentially being a yo-yo club is what Leicester are)? I started at 3 and then thought nah I think we can hope for more than that. Think I would take 5 and be happy, hopefully with a cup and a European tour somewhere in those 5 years!
sly1 Posted 27 April 2014 Posted 27 April 2014 Like wise will miss the championship onwards & upwards c'mon you blues
