Registry Editor

I've got a piece of software and every time I launch it I have to ok it twice with the Registry editor but even more annoying when I close it down I have to ok it 5 times.

I've looked at the registry editor facility and it appears to me it's an all or nothing piece of software/programme control.

Any ideas on how I can get rid of it or at least minimise it to once?

Bump!

Can you give more information on the piece of software you are trying to launch.

The Registry Editor shouldn't really be accessed by the program in that way from what I know of it so its strange you are getting the message. When you say the registry editor, do you mean the Windows Registry Editor??

It sounds like the piece of software you are trying to run is accessing the registry editor but windows or the editor is blocking your system accessing some parts of it and therefore you get the errors. Can you give more information on the error/message you get when you click twice with the registry editor?

Ok, so I bought one of these a while ago, and only really just got round to trying it out.

However, when I plug my 360 into it, and plug it into my monitor, I'm getting really bad horizontal banding. My monitor is set at 60Hz, and my xbox is set at PAL60. I've also tried another monitor, with the same effect. And I plugged a PS2 in and it was fine, so I've pretty much isolated the problem to my xbox.

Oh, and I changed cables too - not that problem either.

Also, if I change my xbox to PAL50 the banding goes, but my colours go all weird >_<

Help?

If anybody can help me to change a Word Document file into a .PDF file I'd be really grateful.

Download (and install) PrimoPDF. Then, after that, open the Word Document and go File > Print. Change the printer to 'Primo PDF' and click print. Then a box will come up and you put in the details of where you want to save it to and the name etc. and it will save there as a PDF.

If you can't do it, send me the word document and I'll do it.

Cheers mate, very much appreciated.

Also, if you have MS Word 2007 there is a plugin to download which automatically adds Save AS PDF so you won't need any third party tools. HERE

I hate Office 2007; I reverted to 2003 :D

Hi Hitesh sorry for the late response, I missed it as i was on holiday.

The programme is Grabbee Deluxe which is a video capture software enabling me to record whatever is playing on my TV straight into my PC.

The message I get contains the following:

User Account Control

Registry Editor

Microsoft Windows

User Account Control helps to stop unauthorised changes to your computor

I don't think it actual does anything in this instance because I can Continue, Cancel or Close it the software still eventually opens and closes.

Thanks

I see, it sounds like that when the Grabbee Deluxe programme executes, it tries to access the Windows registry, ie, add/change system preferences or start up variables etc and therefore by default Windows thinks that it could be unauthorised access and asks you if you trust the source.

There are a few options to this and will depend on your preference on security really. You can disable User Account Control (UAC) in Windows and therefore, (in theory) it will stop the messages. It's up to you though if you want this. I disabled mine because I found it very annoying after a while. I maintain good security in that I know what I'm trying to run in terms of programs and files and I have Anti virus aswell as spyware detection always running. Therefore, I have a good understand of what programs will do so I switched UAC off. Windows will say its strongly recommended to keep it on but this is coming from the people who are now saying that for Windows 7, UAC has been totally re configured and pretty much scrapped of what it is due to the annoyance of it.

The other option is to re-install the program and see if the messages come up after that - my feeling is that they will though and not sure if you will be able to do anything about the messages. You could contact the creators of that software and see if they have a solution for it - which probalby involves chaning some settings but not using the program myself, its hard to tell so I can't really suggest anything on that side.

Ok thanks for that I guess I'm stuck with it, I'm not that confident about the defence of my pc to remove the UAC having just spent 6 hours+ getting rid of Zoog Search which had embedded itself in Firefox and IE, lost all my favourites, the 3rd time this year.

As for reinstalling I'm not going there it took me forever and 50+ emails to the designers in China just to get it to work properly.

Seems like a pain! No worries then.

Also, I'd suggest using Google toolbar to save favourites as this way you can tie your favourites to your account so where ever you login into the toolbar on any browser than has the toolbar installed you will have access to your favourties! Definitely something I'd recommend!

Are you being serious?

On the board that lists all of the threads, there is a number next to the thread in a column called 'Replies'. The number is in blue.

Click this number and then find your name and there will be the amount of times you've posted in said thread.

Need help with page numbering of Microsoft Word 2007.

Basically, I've done a big piece of coursework and I have a title page and contents page that I don't want numbering.

The page after the contents page should start at Page 1, then Page 2, etc.

Within pages, I want to leave a 'gap' so I can put a page in that I've handwritten so I skip a number. For eg, between pages 35 and 37, I want a gap leaving 36.

Google is helpful. I prefer Office 2003 lol:P

Ok, a query about Windows Media Player...

I've just gone and bought a 'proper, legal' copy of the Ministry of Sound Chilled II 1991-2009 CD. Problem is when I put any of the 3 discs from the set into WMP it thinks they're a different album entirely: MoS Chilled 1991-2008 (basically version 1).

So, all the track listings are coming up completely wrong. :banghead:

There are loads of tracks I want to rip from the 3 CDs and - being lazy - I'd much prefer not to have to manually edit all the artists/track names etc. Is there any way I can 'teach' WMP which CD it really is, so I can avoid all that malarkey? :fc:
