Rob1742 Posted 14 August 2014 Posted 14 August 2014 Just read that a Flybe pilots prosthetic arm fell off just before landing, causing difficulties and a very bumpy landing. Flight was between Belfast and Birmingham. Accident investigators said there was no risk to the plane or the passengers, but clearly there was issues as the accident investigators were involved. You have to applaud (no pun intended) for their equal opportunity programme, but is this a step too far? Personally being not a great flyer I am a little uncomfortable with this.

Rincewind Posted 14 August 2014 Posted 14 August 2014 At least he never went on the tanoy and announced 'I seem to have lost an arm so the landing mat be a little bumpy. Please do not panic'
Nalis Posted 14 August 2014 Posted 14 August 2014 Flybe didnt know the full details of the incident but just went out on a limb and said it was fine.
Guest Bilo Posted 14 August 2014 Posted 14 August 2014 Apparently he replaced somebody whose mother had taken thalidomide when pregnant. He was arrested for trying to board a plane with small arms.
Rincewind Posted 14 August 2014 Posted 14 August 2014 When I saw the topic title I thought it may be about one pilot on a plane being armed in case of a terrorist attempt to tke over the plane. Good idea unless the pilot is the terrorist or the pilot with the gun suffers a mental breakdown. Both as likely as a terrorist boarding the plane and caring if the pilot shoots him after he puts a few holes in the fuselage or passengers.
