Fans in the Kop screaming at the ref.....

Also, for those moaning about refs - surely this is one of the things that makes football great? It's the drama of it all - sometimes you feel injustice, other times you breathe a sigh of relief because you've gotten away with something... for me, referees are always going to make mistakes and that just adds to the drama of the game in my opinion. I certainly think the game would be a lot more boring without the contentious decisions and the only way refs will get every decision right would be to constantly stop the game, refer to fourth officials with video link-ups... it'd ruin the game for me.

Everyone loves a pantomime villain, and more often than not, that's the referee.

They're the same types that turn up 5-10 minutes after kick off due to having a few shit warm beers in the concourse pre-match, leave 10 minutes before half time to get a shit pie and drink a few more shit pints, go back up 10 minutes after the second half has started and then leave 5-10 minutes before the end because beating the traffic is more important than actually watching the game you've paid about £30 for.

This may be an over-exaggeration, but it definitely goes on - where I sat in the East Stand last season there was plenty of fans who would regularly miss about 30-40 minutes of football due to pissing about in the concourse before the game and at half time, before leaving early at the end.

Real value for money, that!

The catering is gash. We all know that. But what perplexed me more is this - around 15 minutes into the 2nd half, my son (6) decided he needed the toilet so I took him down to the loo and was greeted by the sight of a handful of people standing around the catering outlet supping pints?? If that's what they want to do, then great - but it does seem a bit stupid!

Yeah we're definitely a better quality fan than these people aren't we. I used to think that because people had paid to watch a match they could spend their time during the game exactly how they wanted, and that they could go down and smoke, urinate, or eat at their own leisure etc, but that's nonsense! I think we should make this thread into another thread slagging off fans whose viewing habits don't perfectly coincide with our own. Gimps!

You see, I respect this view but totally disagree with it. Entertainment in football should be in the skill of the game, not in controversy and stuff being stirred up on account of poor decisions. I've come to see my team play, play well, and hopefully win, not to have a go at some random figure in black because he's made a wrong decision. If I want a pantomime villain, I'd go to the theatre. Or pick the guy on the other team who likes to wind the fans up.

I'd be all for as much tech as possible to make refs virtually infallible as long as it didn't interfere too much with the flow of the game.

Why does everyone on here have to turn everything into a pissing contest? I didn't say anything about being 'better fans' - I'm so sorry if I've offended you with my observation that it's a bit ****ing odd that someone would spend about £30 on match tickets to miss 40 minutes of the ****ing game, while constantly interrupting the view and enjoyment of the people who actually want to watch the game because they can't be bothered to turn up on time, or they can't wait to pay through the nose to stuff a ****ing pie in their gob or get shit faced.

Obviously some just pay the extortionate entry fee for the marvellous catering and fine ales on offer and anyone who questions that should just shut the **** up. That sound about right? Silly me, thinking people actually go to watch football.

Should have the rule I found out in the states when I caught a few games that you have to wait in the concourse for a break in play to return to your seat. That'd teach em

Shouting at the ref is necessary even when you're sure he's making the right decisions.

I just like to make them feel terrible about themselves.

There are those who seem to go the match as it gives them a chance to meet to up with their mates have a laugh and a few pints and the football is almost an add on to the whole package. There are others for whom the football is everything. Not criticising either.

I walked from the station to the ground on Saturday and was chatting to an Evertonian, his  mates were all in the pub having a few pints but he was like me, doesn't like to drink before the game as it takes the edge off the football for him. After the game i'll go home and have a couple of pints no problem.

I did sit there on Saturday at 3.10pm though and look at the people still coming in thinking "We've waited 10 f****g years for this, how are you late ??"

Like I said, I just think it's weird that you'd spend about £30 to gain admission to somewhere where the beer and food are crap and expensive, watch half a game of football and go home. Surely be better off going to a pub with Sky Sports/Sky Sports News and get tanked and have a bit of food there. You'd get almost the exact same effect. I just can't understand the mindset.
