MooseBreath Posted 7 September 2014 Posted 7 September 2014 Daily Mail running with a story that an eastern EU immigrant was Jack the Ripper. Nothing like conforming to type. A liberal making implied accusations of racism because somebody dared to talk about a foreigner committing awful crimes. Nothing like conforming to type.
DennisNedry Posted 7 September 2014 Posted 7 September 2014 Wasn't the killer supposed to be skilled with a knife or was that just the movies? They also were rumours of a royal connection. Have i got fact and fiction mixed? The possible royal connection is well known, but almost certainly not true. The man in question was Prince Albert Victor (grandson of Queen Victoria). His whereabouts at the time of the murders are well known and emphatically rule him out as a suspect. So unless there was and still is a mass cover up by the Royal family, it wasn't him. In terms of the ripper having medical knowledge, most coroners and medical experts belived that the killer had basic anatomical knowledge by the way that he removed internal organs (such as Annie Chapman's womb) without causing much damage to the surrounding tissue, indicating he knew exactly where to look. Edit: Also really have to laugh at the 'DM blame Polish man shocker' posts. The guy was a prime suspect at the time and as I said before was the ripper in the opinion of the senior police officials. I also severly doubt people are going to vote UKIP because of a Polish murderer 126 years ago. **** me.
inckley fox Posted 7 September 2014 Posted 7 September 2014 I'm not sure it's anywhere near conclusive. Investigators worked on the principle that the attacks weren't sexual, but unless I'm mistaken it's the guy's semen on the shawl. So it doesn't fit with a lot of the previous assumptions. Kosminski was supposedly a serial masturbator (he was prone to 'self abuse', which was a common euphemism), so it's not unthinkable that there were garments being carried about by prostitutes at the time which contained traces of his semen. On top of that, the theory printed in the Mail depends partly on the bizarre notion that he might have wanted to leave obscure clues at the scene of the crime that relate to religious celebrations. It seems unlikely that a man who drank from drains would come up with such an idea. It's also worth pointing out that his psychological profile suggests a character who would have boasted of his crimes, and there's no evidence that he did. So he might be a chief suspect, but I'm not sure whether a semen stain at the scene of a supposedly non-sexual attack, from a man who was known to liberally partake in scattering his seed but not known to be violent, and lived just round the corner, constitutes guilt.
ADK Posted 7 September 2014 Posted 7 September 2014 It's not really conclusive for a number of reasons. However, there's a book being published for £16.99...
PAPA LAZAROU Posted 7 September 2014 Posted 7 September 2014 The Daily Mail must have produced more semen than the bloke himself when they found out Jack the Ripper was a Polish immigrant. We expected nothing less.

foxoffderby Posted 7 September 2014 Posted 7 September 2014 wow. I always thought it was this guy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Tumblety I've been interested in this for many years now and heard about AK as a possible suspect especially as most of Scotland Yard thought it was him. But for me the empirical evidence pointed to FT. His hatred of women Medical knowledge of the human body He was there at the time in near by lodgings When he left for America and the killings stopped Scotland Yard chased him back to America He kept human body parts He had violent criminal record in America He was a drug addict Carried knives in his suitcase He was a closet homosexual But if the DNA confirms otherwise than at least we can put one of the greatest mysteries of our time to bed.

The Doctor Posted 7 September 2014 Posted 7 September 2014 Sounds like utter rubbish - for one, why on earth would someone be allowed to take that shawl home if it was evidence in an unsolved murder? Also, if he wanted to leave clues as to the next victims via religious festivals, then why did he kill one of them the day after, rather than the day of, the festival?
OzFox Posted 8 September 2014 Posted 8 September 2014 Obviously not bothered about adding his own DNA to the shawl is he? Having read a few Ripper books, by far the most convincing for me was Martin Fido's, which named Kosminski as the prime suspect

Bellend Sebastian Posted 8 September 2014 Posted 8 September 2014 I'm really glad to see that in Victorian times we were just as able to have a mass panic as we are today about folk that we otherwise wouldn't have given a shit about being on the wrong end of people we like even less
Ulloa Posted 8 September 2014 Posted 8 September 2014 Has anybody said Bloody Polish serial killers, taking all the jobs of English serial killers
