Liverpool defeat will force change(s) at the back. A turning point?

We might as well take the oppurtunity to mix the back-line up, however seeing as NP said we defended well last night, I can't see it.

I'd like to see:

Hamer

Simpson - Wasyl - Upson (if fit) - Konch

I think he said that coz he didn't want to criticise players thru the medium of the Stringer interview - but I just don't believe Nigel thinks the defending was OK... too many mistakes. A lack of a safety first attitude... Wes could have nodded the ball form a corner before their first goal. Kasper is kasper.

I don't know the exact statistics to hand but by my own calculations, I would say that around 85% of the build up play to goals we have conceded this year have been as the result of running at our full backs, in particular De Laet. Going forward, you can't fault him for effort etc but last night, 2 of the 3 goals we let in - moves started down his side of the pitch. Not to say that what happened afterwards was his fault, because both Wes and Kasper committed terrible blunders for their 2nd and 3rd goals respectively but since Pienaar on the opening day and Bolasie against Palace exposed his defensive frailties, every team since has gone at him. So, I think Simpson has now more than earnt his chance.

As for elsewhere, I felt for Liam Moore last night - that whole will he/won't he come on (non) substitution was a farce and you could clearly tell from his face he was less than impressed.

I hope Upson is fitter sooner rather than later. However, as others have stated, NP thought we defended okay again last night (or at least said so in public). So, I'm at a loss what will happen to be honest...

Wasa and Upson it is then lol

YEP! Why can't we pick each team every week? We couldn't do any worse than we are. I nominate you to go first. I'll let Pearson know, and this will take some of the pressure off him. You can sit in the stand if you want, but I envisage you strutting up and down the side of the pitch, barking out orders.   lol

With any luck, it will force changes in how the team defends per se.

Babylon is quite right. Moore was dropped because he too was making errors. Now people see him (and Upson) as the answer to our prayers?? Really?

And what now are the coaches gonna do, that they haven't been doing already to suddenly makes us defensively great at the back? Have they been ignoring this part of the game all season?

Individual errors are made for a reason. That's the important question...
