Stuliasz Posted 22 December 2014 Share Posted 22 December 2014 A Week of Firsts but the Same Old Story lcfcratings.wordpress.com Saturday 20 December 2014, 15:00Barclays Premier LeagueBoleyn Ground, Upton Park, London West Ham United 2Carroll 24′, Downing 56′ Leicester City 0 Ben Hamer claimed his first man of the match award this season in his third start, with his mediocre rating of 5.9 good enough to comfortably take top spot in this week's voting. With West Ham only having two shots on target during the match, it was hardly a busy afternoon for Hamer but few others did anything to impress with substitute David Nugent the only other player on the right side of average. Marcin Wasilewski rounded off the top three, but it was mostly a disappointing set of individual ratings for the rest of the team. It's also the first time that Konchesky has been voted the worst player on the pitch as he finished bottom with the worst rating given to any player this season - a shockingly bad 2.19 that can be attributed to a series of errors including an inexplicable pass leading to Andy Carroll's opener. Anthony Knockaert failed to impress during his half-hour on the pitch finishing in last but one place, while Jamie Vardy completed the bottom three. While the match statistics suggest that City at least matched their opponents with higher possession and more shots on target, the voting support felt that it was one of the worst performances seen this season only beaten by the displays against Southampton, Swansea and Shrewsbury. West Ham were given a decent score without endangering the position of the highest-rated opponents this season, while the referee ratings varied hugely but ended with Martin Atkinson receiving a slightly lower rating than he earned after the Newcastle defeat. Nigel Pearson received a relatively poor match rating with the supporters confidence swinging yet again. It's the fifth time in six matches that the swing has been greater than 10%, as many supporters continue to change their view on the manager from week to week despite five straight losses. Still the majority are keeping confidence with the manager (70%) as the January transfer window draws ever closer. Harry - LCFC Posted 22 December 2014 Share Posted 22 December 2014 There were definitely players out there who contributed more than Hamer. Don't agree with those ratings. I also think Schmeichel might have saved the one-on-one with Carroll - tends not to go to ground so he couldn't have been chipped.

I also think Schmeichel might have saved the one-on-one with Carroll - tends not to go to ground so he couldn't have been chipped. Looking at how the ratings are spread, I think it stems from Hamer receiving more consistent ratings than the likes of Nugent or Wasilewski. Both of the latter seemed to split opinion a lot more than Hamer whose ratings were consistently around the 5 to 7 mark. Was and Nugent both received thirteen 4s, while Hamer just got the one.
