Father Ted Posted 25 December 2014 Posted 25 December 2014 Sorry to add to the feeling of woe but: 2014-15 P17/38 2-4-11 Goals 15-29 Pts 10. Wot we have at present.... 2003-04 P17/38 4-4-9 Goals 25-28 Pts 16. Mickey's boys....entertaining, but ended up going down... 2001-02 P17/38 3-5-9 Goals 13-31 Pts 14. Twatlors best efforts to turn us into a laughing stock ! And, worryingly.... 1977-78 P17/42 2-5-10 Goals 7-32 Pts 11.. (9 actually, coz it was 2pts per win in those days)... The most depressing, embarrassing season I have endured in 48 years of following this club.....the infamous 'McLintock' season! Statistically, (so far), NP is a worse manager at 'top' level than our bloody Frank was !!! The fact that we've conceded more goals at this stage than that Micky Adams side says it all to me. We were crying out for a centre back and a left back in pre-season, where are they?! For me, this is solely why we're in this mess.
shailen Posted 4 January 2015 Author Posted 4 January 2015 having a look at the fixtures below we need 10 wins, being honest with yourself which 10 do you think we could win, I honestly can't see it myself Leicester City Fixtures Share Facebook Twitter December 2014 Show last 5 matches and coverage Competition Fixture Date Kick-off Status Show Premier League Leicesterv TottenhamFri 26 Dec 15:00 PreviewLeicester VsTottenham Show Premier League Hullv LeicesterSun 28 Dec 15:00 January 2015 Show last 5 matches and coverage Competition Fixture Date Kick-off Status Show Premier League Liverpoolv LeicesterThu 1 Jan 15:00 Show FA Cup - Third RoundLeicesterv NewcastleSat 3 Jan 15:00 Show Premier League Leicesterv Aston VillaSat 10 Jan 15:00 Show Premier League Leicesterv StokeSat 17 Jan 15:00 Show Premier League Man Utdv LeicesterSat 31 Jan 15:00 February 2015 Show last 5 matches and coverage Competition Fixture Date Kick-off Status Show Premier League Leicesterv Crystal PalaceSat 7 Feb 15:00 Show Premier League Arsenalv LeicesterTue 10 Feb 19:45 Show Premier League Evertonv LeicesterSun 22 Feb 14:05 Show Premier League Leicesterv ChelseaSat 28 Feb 17:30 March 2015 Show last 5 matches and coverage Competition Fixture Date Kick-off Status Show Premier League Man Cityv LeicesterWed 4 Mar 19:45 Show Premier League Leicesterv HullSat 14 Mar 15:00 Show Premier League Tottenhamv LeicesterSat 21 Mar 15:00 April 2015 Show last 5 matches and coverage Competition Fixture Date Kick-off Status Show Premier League Leicesterv West HamSat 4 Apr 15:00 Show Premier League West Bromv LeicesterSat 11 Apr 15:00 Show Premier League Leicesterv SwanseaSat 18 Apr 15:00 Show Premier League Burnleyv LeicesterSat 25 Apr 15:00 May 2015 Show last 5 matches and coverage Competition Fixture Date Kick-off Status Show Premier League Leicesterv NewcastleSat 2 May 15:00 Show Premier League Leicesterv SouthamptonSat 9 May 15:00 Show Premier League Sunderlandv LeicesterSat 16 May 15:00 Show Premier League Leicesterv QPRSun 24 May 15:00 Never realised how crucial the last two months could be to our season. They need to make a way of arranging fixtures so that no team has to play the top four literally in a row
Captain... Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 The fact that we've conceded more goals at this stage than that Micky Adams side says it all to me. We were crying out for a centre back and a left back in pre-season, where are they?! For me, this is solely why we're in this mess. I don't see why people are comparing this side to Adams' when that side had a number of experienced prem players such as Izzet and Les Ferdinand and we had a much higher profile back then. As for the stats, the key one is points from safety and how many times a team in the relegation zone at Christmas made up 3 points on their rivals that is the star that will show us how difficult this task is. Sunderland and West Brom may have pulled off a great escape, but if they were only 1 point from safety at Xmas then it doesn't mean anything. Being bottom is irrelevant, I would rather be bottom and three points from safety than 18th and 6 points from safety.
Captain... Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 west ham, swansea and southampton completely outclassed us so I cannot see how you think they are all winnable Hopefully by then they will have fallen off the pace and not have much to play for whereas we'll be scrapping for our lives. With home advantage and everything else they are winnable games more so than playing any teams fighting for the title/champions league place. I would also refute they outclassed us, Swansea we played shit with a bizarre formation, they weren't much better but a few moments of class stood out. Southampton we matched them for most of the game and were undone by two late goals. West Ham I would again say we matched them for large parts of he game one aberration from Konch and a peach of a strike from Downing were the difference and West Ham's only shots on target.
Finn Claw II Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 Feb to early March looks bleak - if we are 3 points from safety or less after the Man City game I'd be relatively pleased
biggs Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 I don't have all the stats in front of me but would be curious to know how many of those relegated were more than 3 or 4 pts back from 17th. Maybe I'm the optimist but I believe we will have enough pts by the end of the season to stay up
cc_star Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 Two keys stats Points from safety - we're not far away which considering our run just shows no one is that really any better than anyone else Points per game between now & end of season I haven't worked it out but think we need 1.4ppg to get around 40pts
MC Prussian Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 well considering most people seem to think we are doomed, clearly there is hope. Obviously we are in a bad position, but it has been done before and it can be done again. West Brom were in a worse position as well in 04/05. Most people are a bit more realistic about our future, though. The negative ones that invade this place usually speak for a minority. Hope is always around, some believe in it more than others. As I've mentioned a few times, stats can always be used to validate one's point of view. Whilst I'd love us to pull off another Great Escape, let's keep our feet down on the ground and appreciate each game as it comes along. Without making a big fuss about it.
shailen Posted 5 January 2015 Author Posted 5 January 2015 still think any three from us, hull, palace, burnley, west brom, qpr and sunderland will go down. Regardless of how many points each team has already achieved, there are plenty of games for all that to change. At the start of the season I thought Burnley, Palace and Villa would go down and I stick by that. However, it is going to be a close one for sure.
