Sir Fynwy Posted 25 February 2015 Posted 25 February 2015 We have 3 or 4 wingers ahead of him, we have 2 or 3 (Mahrez, Nugent, Kramaric) potential number 10's ahead of him and he isn't a centre midfield player
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 25 February 2015 Posted 25 February 2015 I agree that pace and physical prowess is overrated, this is not athletics, to play football you need technique, touch and vision as well as positioning (which can be taught). Knockaert and Schlupp are opposite ends of that scale. I'd always go with footballing skill as I think you need it to break down defensive teams - where we have been lacking this season, and Knocky should have been given a go in the games suited to him. Gutted he has gone
ImBlue Posted 25 February 2015 Posted 25 February 2015 Knockaert has played 11 games this season. No goals, no assists and hasn't looked like a League One player. Let alone a Premier League one. As for Albrighton, he's not as good as Mahrez or Schlupp and Schlupp is barely good enough. It does my head in when people think players turn into Johan Cruyff while on the bench. In reality, they're there because they're not good enough to be starting. But we won the league with him last season? The league were about to go back to? I don't get why it's pointless getting rid of Pearson now, but knockaert has to go? I mean Knockeart hasn't even had half the chance Pearson has had to prove himself at premiership level but even if he isn't, why can't he be kept as a young player who is potentially a game winner for us next season? As for not looking a league one player, stop being a muppet. At least make your exaggerations half believable. There is a reason he's been linked with the better sides in the championship, and is moving about 4 places lower than us in English football.

Babylon Posted 25 February 2015 Posted 25 February 2015 I don't get why it's pointless getting rid of Pearson now, but knockaert has to go? Has anyone said Knockaert needs to go? I'm sure every is aware he's well worth having about next season. Do we know he didn't make it clear last summer to the management he wasn't going to sign a contract, that would tie in with his "misquoted" article where he basically said he was off, he's virtually the only under 30 who didn't sign a new contract? Just a thought.

I would love Tony to step up and be successful, I've always really liked him as a player, but he hasn't, thus far, taken his chances and it doesn't look like he's going to get many, if any, more at this level. Yes the players ahead of him in the pecking order haven't exactly pulled up any trees but that's not my point when I say he's down the pecking order, he just is.

I thought in the Villa home game and Newcastle cup game he was very decent. Again, how can you say Albrighton isnt as good as Schlupp on a few sub appearences? The few minutes he has played he looked to have good quality end product, something that is rare from Schlupp who I think is better at left back where he adds some much needed pace to the defence and can easily overlap the left winger.

We won the league with 102 points last season and players many expected to make the step up have failed to do so. That gap between the premier league and the rest is growing and growing. I wouldn't be surprised to see the three promoted teams go straight back down.

Point out where I said that we should get rid of Knockaert please. I'm only saying that he's not better than Schlupp or Mahrez. Pearson is definitely better than Lennon and Mowbray (the only realistic options). In the games i've seen him play this season, he's been awful (League One standard awful). I loved him last season and I thought he could prove to be a good PL player but he hasn't.
