sylofox Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 People knock Knocky for being to slow but would not say no to Beckham or Hoddle neither had speed at any age. Also you can't have a short keeper Paul Cooper was one of the shortest and held the record (praps still does for penalty saves) Surely if you are good enough speed/height should not matter. Why do so many think speed will win us games Knocky has class but has always been asked to play at pace. Mahrez is expected to play at pace on the break. Praps if we showed a little less speed and a little more quality we may get a few more results. Breaking at pace is a great weapon but that is all we seem to do. Love to see Knocky just behind the striker with a free roll. Speed n hight mean fvck all if you have the class. Would love to say what do you expect with a defender as a manager. But we don't seem to defend as long as we don't concede 2 or more. No not a total dig at NP just wish he would let some players play in areas where we need too.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 This is true. Saying someone is too short or slow is by the by if their other qualities compensate for these short-comings. However, if they don't...
Strokes Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 I like knocky, he hasn't set the world alight this season but at 23 he still has a lot to offer. Probably the most gifted technical player at the club, and when he has that swagger is a joy to watch. Probably lacks the pace to be an out and out winger but would be very capable as an inside forward imo. Don't sell/ renew contract please.
sylofox Posted 24 February 2015 Author Posted 24 February 2015 This is true. Saying someone is too short or slow is by the by if their other qualities compensate for these short-comings. However, if they don't... Ok my too short praps don't really come into this. But I do wonder if our hit them on the break is working against us. We all look at it as our only weapon so managers must too. Yet we have Knocky clever and think Mahrez is too but only expected to play at pace. But all we seem to play is fast ball. I don't think our centre mid is upto it cambiasso at times looks lost and look round to slow it down. Football at a tempo yes but we seem to play kick and rush to often.
AKCJ Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 Nobody thinks he's particularly poor, just that he's not better than our other wingers. I think fondness has a big impact on a lot of people's perception of him. In reality, he's a competent championship winger. Mahrez and Dyer were better than him last season and Dyer is a bit part player on loan at Birmingham now. I do think that Knockaert has a lot of potential, but we're in no position to risk it now because as it stands he's not good enough. I sincerely hope he signs a new contract with us though.
sylofox Posted 24 February 2015 Author Posted 24 February 2015 Not just talking our perception of him any player am talking management perception. And no not here to knock Nige am knocking the game and the whole perception in this country. But yes would love to see him behind Kramaric and to play a roving roll. I do think with that we could change tempo and play clever football instead of head down and run. Mahrez would look better and yes Schlupp would suffer. We could then break the game up to suit us fast on the counter but also clever carrying the ball out.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 Considered not good enough for this level yet, can look at his attributes all we like but it doesn't change the fact that he's probably our 5th or 6th choice winger.

Good enough or fast enough? I think he would be good enough at No 10 with Kramaric infront. And as I said we make it easy for the opposition we play the counter and nothing else. I do not like this we have no plan b shite and that should e in odd game. But on the pitch we do seem to have one plan sit back and break. We do need an alternative way of playing from the first minute to the last even if we do not change the squad.

I think Kramaric would be a far better number 10 than Tony, from what I've seen of Kramaric so far he really suits a free ranging behind the forward role.
Riot Van Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 Can we just accept that Knocky is out of his depth at this level?
Soar Fox Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 Can we just accept that Knocky is out of his depth at this level? Can we just accept that Knocky is out of his depth at this level? Along with most of our squad.
Callabinho Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 I wouldn't say Mahrez is particularly quick either, it's just Pearson being Pearson.
indierich06 Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 Could this not have gone in the other Knockaert thread?
ImBlue Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 Considered not good enough for this level yet, can look at his attributes all we like but it doesn't change the fact that he's probably our 5th or 6th choice winger. Why does he need to be? We won't be there much longer! Pointless argument too because only about 3 of our players are and our manager isn't good enough for this current level either! Name 4 or 5 better wingers please?
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 Are you blind? He's considered our 5th or lower choice winger. Where in my post did I say he's my 5th choice winger? Mahrez Jeff Albrighton Vardy All preferred to Tony on the wing. Arguably Lawrence as well.
Strokes Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 Can we just accept that Knocky is out of his depth at this level? He is 23 years old, he still has quite a bit of development left. So no I wont accept that he is out of his depth! Just like quite a few others, he hasn't stepped up as quick as we needed.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 I take your point about speed and height, but to me he appeared somewhat lost, on the past few occasions he played. Players have to think faster in the Premiership, rather than be faster. He doesn't seem able to do that, imo.
ImBlue Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 Are you blind? He's considered our 5th or lower choice winger. Where in my post did I say he's my 5th choice winger? Mahrez Jeff Albrighton - 10 appearances compared to 11 knockaert Vardy - a striker played on the wing because we have too many strikers, useless out wide. Can't be classed as a winger. As much of a winger as wasilewski is a full back. All preferred to Tony on the wing. Arguably Lawrence as well - 3 appearances. See above. Plus, I assumed you were giving an opinion on a forum. Apologies I didn't realise you were giving me baseless facts.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 3 months left on a contract, going out on loan, all the preferred choices have multiple years remaining. If you're looking for an argument you're trying it with the wrong bloke. I've not even put across my opinion on Tony.

How is that any different, than your Pearson worship? Only Pearson as had more chance than knockaert. So in reality Pearson is a competent championship manager? I certainly concur.

So in reality Pearson is a competent championship manager? I certainly concur. I'll explain again, I would have sacked Nige in November. Now I think it's a waste of time and would be detrimental to the cub as a whole. It's not worshipping him, it's being realistic. I certainly don't want Mowbray or Lennon in charge which is the calibre we'd end up with. Pearson has certainly proven that he's not a competent Premier League manager, however I think he proved last season that he's more than competent in the Championship, which is where we're going.
AKCJ Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 I wouldn't say Mahrez is particularly quick either, it's just Pearson being Pearson. Eh? He might not be Vardy level, but Knockaert looks like he's running through water compared to Mahrez.

My apologies then.i thought you were like mark w who will stop supporting Leicester when Pearson goes.
iancognito Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 I'd play Knockaert ahead of Schlupp as I think he can break at pace like Schlupp but might actually have some sort of finish at the end of it. The amount of chances that Schlupp has missed this season is unreal. Various shots ending up in the stands and one even going for a throw in (against Stoke I think). It's not an exaggeration to say that if he'd put even a handful of them away he'd be our top scorer. Knockaert's got a reputation for not tracking back but against Villa he was immense at it and I'm amazed he hasn't had more game time. I know there's only so many places available but he's more than worthy of a place on the bench at least.
George mcfly Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 Schlump is absolutely wank pasty.hes come up through the youth and you want him to be good but he really is shit, how he's nearly been ever present is one of many decisions of why we are bottom.i don't care what anyone else says our best winger left for Watford in the summer.
