I dont think you can judge a keeper without a decent run of games. We didnt realise how crap Ward was until Kasper left. The biggest annoyance is we have sold keepers like Iversen and Johannson and they are clearly better keppers than Jakub. Jakub unfortunately doesnt have the quality for a club of our stature and we should play Begovic until we sign a new No1 in the summer.

Whats people thoughts on Will Still? I thought he was highly rated and did quite well in France, his team Lens battered us in pre season when cooper was in charge. Coild be realistic appointment as well?

We’ve got players who are genuinely above this level, and while the wages have created a bit of imbalance in the squad, there’s still more than enough quality to perform well versus mediocre opposition. Some or most of these players may move on at the end of the season, which is exactly why this year is important for us. Even with the deduction, a playoff push is within reach if we get things right on the pitch. FFP means we can’t throw money at the issue (if we dont go up) even if the club wanted to, but that also forces the board to be smarter, build properly, and avoid repeating old mistakes. Otherwise itll be a return to the mediocre Levein style days.
