Anything else that might persuade me to take them on? Would you recommend them YES or NO Who's it with? SKY How much do you pay monthly? £5 + line rental +Telephone package What's the speed like? 2mb but seems worse What's the reliability like? it's intermittent. Are there any hidden extras? I have to have the phone to get the £5 deal Anything else that might persuade me to take them on? I guess £5 is cheap Would you recommend them NO!

ADSL24 How much do you pay monthly? £25for 45g peak 8am to 8 pm and 450g offpeak 8pm to 8am and weekends / bank holidays What's the speed like? 8m+ will be 24 if they ever upgrade the Glen exchange What's the reliability like? Excellent. Never had an issue Are there any hidden extras? There are extras if I exceed my ups and downs each month but have never got near them even with d/l 8g movies etc. So no. Anything else that might persuade me to take them on? Its a monthly contract. Not tied in for 12mths. You can change package when you want. Very flexible. great online reports for your line Would you recommend them YES but it all depends what you use the internet for. Is it just surfing? Are you a pirate? etc.
Webbo Posted 20 July 2009 Posted 20 July 2009 How good is yours? Good enough for my needs. Who's it with?Talktalk. Anything else that might persuade me to take them on?.... Hitesh Posted 20 July 2009 Posted 20 July 2009 Who's it with? AOL How much do you pay monthly? £19 going down to £15 in a few weeks What's the speed like? I can get UP TO 8MB but only get about 3-4MB What's the reliability like? Not too bad, the occasional slowness but nothing major Are there any hidden extras? Nope Anything else that might persuade me to take them on? They won't offer the same deal to new customers so I think you would have to pay around £20-£25 and possibly a bit more for unlimted. They are owned by Carphone Warehouse and as is TalkTalk and I have heard that for new customers, its better to go with TalkTalk as its quicker and you get better deals. The advantage with AOL is that the line rental is included. Would you recommend them YES or NO Despite the bad/negative vibes around AOL I would but only if the deals right!

I have to have the phone to get the £5 deal Anything else that might persuade me to take them on? I guess £5 is cheap Would you recommend them NO! Are there any hidden extras? They dance for me. Sky was £10 pm until recently upto 16MB if you had sky digital. Have you got unlimited download? If not, are you going over the 40GB? download usage? A slow speed isn't always down to your provider, many people havn't fathomed how to unlock certain things to speed things up.

Matt Posted 22 July 2009 Posted 22 July 2009 Shit. That's how I could sum mine up. Only just got back online, as it decided to go offline and not let me connect last night, just tried it this morning, trying exactly the same things I was last night and it works, I was adamant I wasn't going to call Technical Support though, as I can't understand a word they are saying and they piss you off even more.

Edmund Posted 22 July 2009 Posted 22 July 2009 That's a No on recommending AOL then? Not sure about now but back in the day they use to take over your whole computer with there software which corrupted the computer. Didn't know they were still about thought they went bust a long time ago. They also bit themselves in the arse by handing out millions of those free cd's back in the day and so many people installed it realising it fooked there computer up that they have a bad rep now.

The sole reason I am with Orange is for the half price cinema tickets. Never tried using my dongle when I am out and about. Never taken my laptop anywhere with me.

If you ever get a problem with your connection, don't bother calling up. It's a waste of 2 hours all for them to say: "well it must be your personal computer. By the way, that payment you sent us directly into our bank account over 2 weeks ago, We didn't get it. Even though you have the receipt to prove you paid into our account, we don't believe you. Connection terminated. Thanks for using TalkTalk" Hope they rot in hell.

Or XL Broadband, M Phone (with line rental) and M+ TV for £36.50 a month? You get a much better deal if you get a bundle, never buy a product on its own!

chrisfox Posted 22 July 2009 Posted 22 July 2009 Ouch!! Im sure he will be chuffed you have told him now that he is tied into a 12 month contract. Nah, not really bothered to be honest. Had NTL/Virgin internet since it first came out as the free dailup, and just upgraded as and when it's become available. (about 9 years or so now I think) dont have a landline phone, and I have SKY TV. Don't know first hand what the TV package with Virgin Media is like but I've heard it's pretty crap. All in all happy with what I've got!

Happened to me when I got me sky + box I bought it for £100 and a few months later they were giving them out free. To be fair though you have gone the right way about it. Sky over Virgin media any day of the week.
