Leicester City have taken Sunderland striker Martyn Waghorn on loan until January 11.

The 19-year-old has been at the Black Cats since the age of 8 and last season went on loan to Charlton where he impressed. City boss Nigel Pearson said: "He has trained with us and did very well. He was on loan at Charlton last year and is someone who comes in and will have a positive effect."

Waghorn found his first-team chances few and far between at the Stadium of Light hence his successful loan spell at the Valley.

his increase's City's striking options boosted by the fact that Matty Fryatt, who scored ther only goal of the game in the pre-season friendly last Sunday here against real Valladolid, is fit and available. Pearson added: "Matty is fine, there is not a problem and he will be available."

Until January then. I guess what would be most pleasing would be if he bangs in a few goals for us, and Billy Kee bangs in a load for 'Stanley then Waghorn goes back to Sunderland and Kee comes back here and carries on banging them in for us. Unlikely, but would be nice.

Waghorn - If he scores tomorrow I can imagine the terrible puns used by the OS and Mercury.

I think it would be worth using the Mattock money to try to sign this guy on a perm deal, but i don't think Sunderland are looking to sell so they wouldn't accept any offer unless it is completely stupid like 8 mill or something
