Never really thought about this. Logically it should be marque but marquee has become accepted. Makes no sense when you think about it.

Should've listened to Dubya

Yeah a pie and bovril is one thing. Warming and traditional. Burgers are inappropriate at the football, unless maybe from a shack at a non league game.

highest podcast to actual game ratio in human history

I feel like we've reached peak footballer anecdote on podcasts now. Really struggling for content. It's getting to the point where the ex player is like "so we're playing this game right, and a ball comes in the box yeah, and you're not going to believe this, but the opposition striker jumps up and heads it into the goal (hysterical screeching laughter off mic).... and I'm looking at Smithy like what has just happened... honestly it was unbelievable...."

This has potential as a Bee Gees flavoured terrace chant

Wellens' Orient now have consecutive away games at Wrexham, Bolton and Birmingham, and are then at home to Charlton. If they're still top 6 after those four, they have a great chance of ending up in the playoffs at season end.

iirc like most parts of central London there's a Fullers pub which will probably be quite good and a Greene King pub you'll obviously want to avoid. Probably somebody who knows the area better than me will be able to make a better recommendation...

Depends which part of Westminster. The bit close to Parliament is as Stadt said not very good for pubs. There always seem to be a lot near St James' park station that look quite nice but probably don't have a great selection of beers. Then a little walk north to Charing Cross you have the famous Harp of course which I still think is classic although it splits opinions.

Always good to see some ESB love. A beautiful drop.

Loads of private health clinics that offer them at not much expense.

It's quite simply because they grow up in a culture where homophobia is normal. It wasn't that different in Britain until quite recently, and I have no doubt a lot of people here still share those views but are afraid to express them in public.

A sense of superiority and a poor understanding of the rest of the world are strong in Anglo-Saxon societies. Sometimes I wonder if a lot of the recent developments in those countries are just down to voters not really knowing how to deal with no longer being able to shut themselves off from the globe's problems any more.

Wishing you all the very best Alf.

This is what I've heard from everyone who's been. Also taught a few Iranian students in London and they've all been wonderful.

It's the one country I really would love to go to. I know a few people who've been, though mostly non-British, and they've pre-booked it with a tour guide, which sounds like what these guys did.

Another one to add to the list! -
This Side of Paradise, which I didn't enjoy very much at all to be honest. Which was a surprise because I love Fitzgerald's other novels, especially Tender is the Night.
