  2. I think 'Russian bots' and such stuff has become a convenient scapegoat for media and political elites who don't want to face up to the flaws in their own societies. Brexit was an example of that.
  3. Agreed, he is truly awful and worse than Trump.
  4. Vance is a Northern English / Scottish name, no? The ones who were settled in Northern Ireland. Awful people.
  5. Vance is an absolute weapon who sold out a lot of what he believes for power, but much of what he said was true. Particularly on the paranoia over "misinformation" which increasingly looks like an attempt to deflect from the fact that many Europeans are losing faith in their political systems to deliver what they want. Still, death to America, as always.
  6. We have some good dishes here and there. Mostly there.
  7. This thread is turning me into one of those insufferable Americans that posts stuff on social media about Brits still eating like there are German bombers overhead
  8. dude's going to be reincarnated as a squirrel living next to a motorway
  9. I like my cheese between the main course and the dessert. Not on 'potato and beans' whatever this is.
  10. I do think Patson is a genuinely lovely guy. Cooper's probably harmless but not someone you want to spend time round. We all work with someone like that. Danny Ward is just a very very bad person.
  11. People in this country will make up the most elaborate rules for serving food that sounds like something a prisoner in Venezuela would get.
  12. Foxestalk 'lovely blokes': - Steve Cooper - Danny Ward - Patson Daka
  13. Don't like beans but seems logical to me to always put cheese on last, i.e. carbs, 'sauce', cheese.
  14. Well no, it wasn't.
  15. Love Waggy, and loved the 09/10 season.
  16. What's the population increase in the same period? At the moment I think it's about just over 1% a year so probably for that period the population has grown more than the economy, and per capita GDP has fallen.

  19. For years I have written I got an A in GCSE history, not a B.
  20. Will always love Kel. Genuinely one of my favourite players.
  21. He stormed out of Wembley the next month and nobody told him Chilwell's goal was disallowed.
  22. Hesgeth said "it will require our European allies to step into the arena and take ownership of conventional security on the continent". Which we've known was on the horizon for a while, and which I agree with, but still a huge shift. And yet I'm not sure it will make a huge ripple in Britain or Europe right now.
  23. Maybe the seeds of our current demise were sown then, but I don't think you can truly say we were on a downward slope before summer 2021. I believe those two Covid interrupted seasons are the highest average finishes over two consecutive campaigns in our entire history.
  24. Not sure many people in the UK or Europe have totally come to terms with the new reality yet.
  25. In the league, it was a gentle downward trajectory from about December 2019. Then a steep one from summer 2021. Obviously the FA Cup win was wonderful but the nature of that competition means you can win it without necessarily being a very upwardly mobile club; see also Manchester United 2024.
