  1. This is definitely an unpopular opinion, kudos. And I don't disagree with it as much as I want to.
  2. Lloyd Dyer wasn't very good. Though he was quite effective.
  3. It does take a certain kind of genius to realise two people have names that start with the same letters
  4. I usually watch them at Mabel's Tavern near King's Cross - nice sporty pub and good location for me. It's on the same line as Aldgate but there's probably somewhere closer, probably around Liverpool Street there will be plenty of pubs showing football - maybe the King's Arms?
  5. What efforts? I can't remember any kind of protests or concerted campaigns to clear her name.
  6. Had two or three decent-ish games iirc. Away at Everton he was quite good. Maybe you're right, but I haven't really seen much to suggest he's even an ok shot stopper. Some of his attempts are quite strange and unorthodox, I'm thinking of Man United away in the relegation season. Who knows.
  7. The fact he's ok at penalties but is so comically bad at shot stopping suggests he has poor instincts and reactions. Basically not a natural goalkeeper. Probably been well enough coached at Liverpool to somehow make himself a career as a GK.
  8. I can only assume any Welshman who's good at handling some kind of ball gets forced into rugby
  9. Crazy really there were only 7 years between league one and winning the Premier League. The same amount of time as between winning the league and going down.
  10. You could do both. The two areas are quite different. As Stevie B says the old town of Bari is nice. Then nearby you've got Trani, Polignano, Monopoli, Ostuni, Cisternino. I love Monopoli - pretty town and very laid back. If you go there let me know and I'll recommend some beaches and restaurants. The Salento is quite different. Much more Greek influence, a bit wilder. Near Lecce you've got Gallipoli, Taranto and Otranto, all of which are worth exploring. Otranto is great. Lots of historic places round there and some stunning beaches. There's a great little narrow gauge railway that goes down from Lecce to Otranto. I trained it all the way back from Otranto to London last year which was good fun if a bit expensive.

  12. I swear he copies a lot of Tyldesley's cadence and pronunciation. Which is the last person you want to copy really. Really grating.
  13. Ward's less mobile
  14. Plot twist - he's on death row and that was literally his last pint
  15. Thought this thread was about a just-announced sequel to the classic 1987 Kim Cattrall film.
  16. Programme on the Balkans on BBC tonight. Will probably be superficial and patronising but hopefully will give Brits some idea of how and why it's the greatest place in the world.
  17. Don't think I want us to come back up. I know this sounds a bit 'give it Jewlleh' but I'd rather we brought in a young British manager (Robins would be nice), brought through some players like Alves and Nelson, and had a couple of seasons fighting for the playoffs and maybe a half decent cup run. Might weed out some of the happy clappers and reestablish a connection between players and fans. Problem is we have a load of shit **** players we can't shift.
  18. Were we a model club though? We brought in some fantastic players, which is credit to the coaching staff at the time, and had a couple of managers that got a lot out of them for at least a season and a bit.

    Depression

All the best Wymsey. Hope you still find the time to join us in a game of when taken every so often. Getting a bit lonely in there with just me and Sinatra...
  20. Britain should stick up for Canada more considering the history of the two countries. Pretty sad but unsurprising to watch our government's reaction to Trump's meltdowns.
  21. Scratch the surface of most societies and you'll find anti social behaviour and violence. However I haven't been to a country where it is as constantly excused as it is in Britain. No doubt this kid was just a bit boisterous and was let down by amazon/social media/ the closing of his local youth club.

Last pint thread would just be reviewing the latest tripel blond brother Ranulf has brewed up.

  24. Early 2000s were a different time. There was more trust in the unstoppable march of progress bringing benefits to us all. That was true in football too - 2002 was about twice as close to Hillsborough than it is to 2025. It was still the beginning really of the transformation of English football and although there were a few grumblings about e.g. players extortionate wages or clubs starting to bring out new kits every season, the game hadn't become the soulless, globalised product that we're now forced to consume all weekend every weekend.
