  1. Sounds a bit like he poked the bear
  2. It's interesting that a lot of people who defend Russia's actions are also quite nationalistic and very concerned about defending traditional (European) values and upholding sovereignty. And yet you have a European country that is bravely fighting to protect its own culture, sovereignty and territory against a Russian army containing thousands of conscripts from Asia, and they won't defend it.
  3. kind of like a pub jukebox the internet should have a list of banned phrases but it should just be "poke the bear"
  4. I enjoy non league but it can very very rarely generate the emotions and passions that elite football can conjure up.
  5. As others have said, the authenticity and intimacy, and the connection with the club. Big English clubs are now more commercial and more global, so they've lost something of their soul and identity. Like many of the cities and towns themselves.
  6. Is 'Yachine' what his Russian teammates nicknamed him?

    When Taken

    Boom Tiny bit of language I found on #5 that revealed the probable location #WhenTaken #244 (28.10.2024) I scored 966/1000 🎉 1️⃣ 📍 5 km - 🗓️ 6 yrs - ⚡ 193 / 200 2️⃣ 📍 5 km - 🗓️ 8 yrs - ⚡ 189 / 200 3️⃣ 📍 477.4 metres - 🗓️ 6 yrs - ⚡ 193 / 200 4️⃣ 📍 275.0 metres - 🗓️ 0 yrs - ⚡ 200 / 200 5️⃣ 📍 2 km - 🗓️ 7 yrs - ⚡ 191 / 200 https://whentaken.com
  8. It was a joke that didn't really work. Would've made more sense if I'd sung it
  9. I'm not the greatest fan of American liberalism, but every clip I've seen from the rally yesterday is just the most deranged fascist shit I've ever seen from a developed country's politicians. If I was American I'd be absolutely terrified. Sick country.
  10. I don't think it's a deliberate thing. I know it's a convenient bogeyman but I think a lot of it is just down to social media making us more narcissistic and confrontational. Nobody would really speak to someone face to face the way they speak on social media, but for a lot of people something like twitter has become their primary daily interaction, certainly when it comes to politics. As a result you get stuff like this: https://tribune.com.pk/story/2505464/democratic-organizer-jordan-bowen-faces-backlash-for-screaming-at-child-during-kamala-harris-rally
  11. I think a lot of politics these days at least in the English speaking world is just about beating people you don't like, and not just beating them but humiliating them.
  12. All the leaves were brown?
  13. Yeah I do too tbh. My conclusion is that their society is very sick but the empire is as strong as ever. And we in the anglosphere are on the front line as you said in your previous post.
  14. He might not care about us, but we should care because the US is by far our biggest export market. https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/trade-and-investment-core-statistics-book/trade-and-investment-core-statistics-book#goods-exports I know very little about import and export stuff but If he gets in and follows through with his tariff threat I'm pretty sure that is bad news.
  15. This is worse than Wymesy's Greta Thunberg post.
  16. UK has been in decline since the early 20th century, and we lost our Empire nearly 80 years ago. Obviously that decline has sped up since 2008 because of suicidal macroeconomic policy. I don't think America is in decline. Economically they have pulled further away from Europe and militarily they are still incredibly powerful. Culturally they are probably the most powerful country of all time. You have young people in London affecting American accents and mannerisms. So for me it's not who will replace America but where they lead us next. It's more 27BC than than 476AD

  22. Maybe my favourite European country apart from the ones I've lived in. Incredibly beautiful and wonderful people.
  23. Saw the headline but hadn't read the story. Now I think I probably won't.
