When I hear Hednesford I always think of their game against Middlesbrough the season Boro got to 2 cup finals.

Genuine question - has there been any xenophobia towards Tuchel? I don't read the Mail et al.

Like I said, it's not for me. What I like in international football is smaller countries like Romania or Croatia beating bigger ones like Germany or England because of the skill of their players or the tactical nous of their coaches, not how much money they can offer. That's what international sport is for me. Also, we were penalty kicks away from winning the Euros with Gareth ****ing Southgate. The idea that it is impossible to win a trophy with an English manager is absurd. If we can't, try and change that. Try and learn from the other countries.
-
It's not the same for me. International football should be about the best players and coaches from their respective countries competing against each other. Foreign coaches doesn't feel right. Too much like club football.

I mean you could never accuse the Argentinians of not caring about us.

Transport is good too. Innsbruck to Brixen is like 1hr 45 by train. There are also loads of buses going to the little valleys around the Dolomites. Beautiful part of the world.
-
A few hours south of Innsbruck by train you have Bolzano, Brixen, and loads of beautiful little villages. Will probably be a bit quieter and will still be very beautiful that time of year. Brixen is great at Christmas.

Neither is Tuchel from what I've read

I was writing out a humorous reply to this about Salmond claiming Macedonia's economy would 'catch up' with the rest of the Balkans, and then chickened out because I thought it'd be bad Karma. Religious upbringing...

I saw this news today: https://news.sky.com/story/bbc-to-axe-long-running-interview-show-hardtalk-amid-plans-to-cut-130-news-roles-13234093 I used to watch this quite a lot when I lived abroad. Lots of my students used to watch it too to improve their English. I know it's just one programme but it reflects what you posted, that anything insightful or interesting is cut and the absolute dumbest shit gets funded. It was a sense of pride that we produced quality stuff that people preferred to a) American stuff and b) their own media. But I don't know how many people still associate British media with that same kind of quality.

Every day I thank God that when my dad was offered a job in Long Sutton he chose to move to Norfolk and commute rather than live in Lincs. (I know Wisbech is officially Cambridgeshire but culturally it's Lincs)

Beautiful city. Incredible Egyptian museum. Best coffee and cake I've had in Italy, maybe the French influence. Also good to try and get north into the Alps for a day.

Cambridge bitter is one of my favourite pale ale types. Very refreshing in the summer. Their Black Dog is one of my favourite beers too. I like Elgoods. Quite an old school, medium-sized family brewer with a very beautiful old brewery. I assume when you say you want to get over this way again you're not talking about Wisbech though.

Thanks. Still says 'coming soon'. I think they put the tickets back on at the band they sell out at?

God save us from fans of underachieving big-city Yorkshire teams. "Chip on their shoulder" doesn't even get close.

I think with social media people like to link everything back to their own pet peeve, like people going on about US college campuses or Jeremy Corbyn in response to atrocities in Gaza. Another way this medium has made us all more narcissistic. I'm probably guilty of this myself.

Horrors upon horrors. Beyond comprehension.

I remember them saying stuff like that and it was rather surreal watching from abroad those kind of claims when people were also saying they wanted to stop Eastern Europeans coming here and for us to "trade with the World", which obviously precluded some kind of soft Brexit. Maybe it was complex for some of people, but I don't think there have been any consequences that weren't relatively obvious at the time apart from the Covid response from 2021 onwards which I think possibly was helped by us being outside the EU.
-
It wasn't that complicated though was it. If you leave the single market it's harder to export and import from the EU and you can't live in EU countries without a visa. Unlike you I am definitely not clued up on politics and especially not the economy but I thought it was possibly the simplest political question of my lifetime.
