fair play they gave it a go. When you're a lower league club that's all you want really

Happy to admit my antipathy to Wrexham is irrational, but there is definitely a type of fan (late 30s early 40s centrist Dad type, big Americanophile) who bristles at any perceived criticism of the club despite having absolutely no connection to them at all. I was discussing their rise with a work colleague at the pub on Friday and mentioned they had spent a bit of money to which my interlocuter reacted by angrily reaching for his league table of division three net spenders which he'd saved on his phone and reeling off all the things 'Rob and Ryan' had done for the community. Like sorry I said mean things about your favourite action film actor bro.

It's not like Everton are doing much better. Super league example is a good one to be fair, but a slightly different situation. Don't get me wrong I find the frequent lack of atmosphere home and away disappointing, I just think the idea that our on pitch malaise is a great deal down to the 'happy clappers' is a little hard to believe.

I think people overestimate how much bearing the behaviour and attitude of the fans has on the trajectory of a football club. I can't think of any examples of a club having their fortunes turned around mostly thanks to fan pressure although admittedly I haven't thought that hard.

"Would you rather win the cup or get top 5?" "No"

Absolutely, but Brexit was also sold to us at the time by some people as getting away from Europe's increasing fascist tendencies, and lots of sensible, centre right types told us after 2016 that leaving the EU would neutralize the far right and make Farage irrelevant. It was predictable however that when things got worse not better people would claim as you say that real brexit had never been tried

I remember when it was claimed that Brexit would 'kill the far right' in this country. Not like in Europe where they're all just itching to vote for fascists.

It's north American, so should be resisted. It's bad enough having squad numbers at all.

Milan vs Bologna in the Coppa Italia final then. Decent chance for Bologna to win their first silverware in 50 years.

Liberation day tomorrow so you should get some good manifestazione. Though maybe not quite as much in Verona as it's quite a right wing town.

I've been dying to post this all day but didn't want to come across as a bore. Just the worst phrase in modern sport.
