  1. It's not that insane any more. Elite English football is totally broken and although I want us to go up because it's good for the club and ultimately for the fans, the prospect doesn't get me that excited. If we can get back somewhere near where we were then great, and obviously promotion is the first step, but just treading water in the PL isn't that fun as a fan.
  2. Momo Sylla?
  3. Insanely I think this is actually true. When I read the post I thought about which nostril I was breathing from and concluded it was the right one. Now rereading the thread I'm pretty sure I've switched to the left one. Mental.
  4. Magna Carta, did she die in vain?
  5. You're an arsenal fan so I assumed you were from the west country
  6. Akinbiyi's game against Liverpool is undoubtedly the worst I've seen from a Leicester striker and one of the worst from any professional footballer.
  7. America enters its years of lead era
  8. It's a bit MCC. Shame because their old badge was quite cool
  9. Norwich. Some of the best medieval architecture in England. Lots of good pubs if that's your thing. Close to some lovely countryside.
  10. American conservatism (e.g. pro gun rights, pro Israel, anti government interference) is influenced by the specific history and makeup of the country. The puritan streak runs deep through it. It's not really analogous to European conservatism. English conservatism has unfortunately drifted over the last few decades from more European to more American.
  11. This is what I tell myself about me and my work colleagues
  12. yeah it's all a bit boring now
  13. British politics has proved the Mick McCarthy rule the last decade - yes it can get much worse.
  14. One of the top stories in the Guardian online and BBC Europe News this morning. British media is obsessed with America and reports very little on Europe so obviously you're not going to hear loads about it.
  15. Truly this deserves more than one rep point
  16. Always a pleasure to read or see MON in the media, even if this is a rather Forest heavy article. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/sep/23/martin-oneill-interview-management-nottingham-forest-evangelos-marinakis-brian-clough-england In a one off game that we had to win, a cup final or a game to avoid relegation, I'd still take O'Neill in his prime over any other manager we've had.
  17. Are you talking about the pro Palestine demonstrations in Italy? Because that's been pretty widely covered.
  18. Lucky you. I've got a spouse and child with citizenship of an EU country which helps me settle there, but I'm not that confident that if reform get in and enact this plan a) there won't be reciprocal measures against British citizens in the EU if they try anything against those with settled status here, or b) we'll even be able to move back to the UK if we need to.
  19. A very small part of me hopes reform get in and England sinks ever further into the miry depths.
  20. If only the mayflower had sunk
  21. They probably think women should feel pain during pregnancy as it's God's will
  22. Absolutely love filling out all the paperwork now required to get a visa to go live in the EU while Nigel Farage vows to reverse the post Brexit migration surge. So uplifting.
  23. The whole rally is like nothing I've seen before from a country's senior government. Maybe there's been something similar in Russia, I dunno. Keep hoping they find time for Liz Truss to give a speech.
  24. Once again the dastardly Scots are responsible for all the world's ills.
  25. All looking very stable and calm in America I see.
