  1. Too funny. Please let them keep him
  2. I mean Teresa May was anti immigration. Johnson was always quite vocally pro immigration. Oh and he made it treble, not double
  3. Should've kept May eh? One of the most anti immigration politicians in our history, but not brexity enough for the loons...
  4. Sounds a bit like 'project fear'
  5. I remember "leaving the EU will neutralise the far right"
  6. I actually quite like it and watch a bit and yes Americans over intellectualize it to an absurd degree. Like it really doesn't take much to remember which lineman to stand in the way of or which direction of the field to run to to catch a pass. Come on now.
  7. Had his faults as an owner and business man to put it mildly. But was a real football guy and the Pearson 1 & Sven era was great fun. Goes without saying he played a part in our rise.
  8. Touch of the Izzet about him
  9. Will always love our Enzo
  10. True, many of us lack the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate 350 pound men giving each other CTE in 10 second bursts interspersed with 3 hours of adverts.
  11. I would say it's precisely this that makes it unpopular
  12. I have a very good knowledge of American football and still think it's insanely drawn out and very often quite dull. Also if you're saying that a rolling highlights show is better than a full game you're kind of proving my point.
  13. Have to say I really like TDF and Giro d'Italia. Nice way to spend an evening watching highlights of people cycling very fast through some bucolic countryside.
  14. There's so much low hanging fruit in Britain, so many easy wins for the government. Small, simple things that would make people feel a little more like they live in a relatively prosperous and pleasant society. Other countries with economies much smaller than ours manage to do it.
  15. One of the reasons I think is because our urban areas have become so grim. Shitty pavements, litter everywhere, poor housing. Haven't been to many places west or east Europe that are worse. Gives the impression of a failed state. In general though yes the state still works better here than in many places but there is a general feeling of everything getting slowly worse.
  16. I don't hate American football but I refuse to believe anyone truly enjoys something that lasts that long for so little action. Really pushing the boundaries of the meaning of the word 'sport'
  17. Maybe put stuff like that in the cvnts thread so I can avoid reading it. Incredibly disturbing.
  18. For all of the hype, Champions League is probably the most purely entertaining tournament in sport. Helps that I very rarely care who wins.
  19. World cup final isn't always a great game and the tournament has been ruined to some extent but it's still the true global sporting event. There's really nothing else in the world I think that has its power.
  20. Definitely Maybe has aged the best and would still sound good if it were released today. The rest sounds quite dated.
  21. Rank it how? The most popular or personal preference. If it's the latter it'd be... 1) World cup final 2) TDF 3) Ashes 4) Super Bowl 63210) Ryder Cup
  22. You're right it's not great in other countries but I think perhaps your post betrays your own lack of personal experience. In the last year or so in the UK there have been literal attempted pogroms of foreigners in the north of England and Northern Ireland. Lots of people want to leave not because of what they see on SM but because they're tired of English media and politicians portraying them and their family as parasites almost every day.
  23. They implied it is a conflict that comes from disagreements over religion, which it's not
  24. You think that people being ethnically cleansed from their own ancestral lands should be like "yeah cool mate you do you"?
  25. That is probably true and this is a bit of whataboutism but the same is true of English "conservatives" who strongly support Israel, which I've always found a little strange although I realise a lot of them just copy what the American right do.
